Computer Nerd Posted July 25, 2016 #76 Share Posted July 25, 2016 (edited) We prepaid a tip, supposedly the going rate (about $280?), but this is not included for room services? Also, I've heard that tipping our steward up front (about $20) is worth it because of the better treatment we'll get throughout the cruise. Is that always the case? I guess, even though we prepaid, we should also take a handful of cash for more tipping. I also heard of checking in water/sodas/alcohol in luggage to save a few bucks. Sounds like this might work as long as we keep ice handy and we can use the empty luggage for purchases during the trip. LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!! :D :D the daily gratuities does not cover room service. also, tipping the cabin steward extra, either up front or at the end, does not guarantee better service, nor should it. i don't tip my cabin steward extra and have always received adequate service and really couldn't imagine what better than adequate service would be.........i don't need a foot message or a back rub from my cabin steward. :D all soda/water/wine but be carried on board the ship. you cannot put it in your luggage. also, all soda and water must be canned, no bottles. crusinpsychRN Posted July 31, 2016 #77 Share Posted July 31, 2016 Looks like I must tip excessively I always tip the room service 5 dollars. Hey they are coming to your door and you can be lazy. I usually order very late like 3 or 4 in the morning. Cause we usually close up every bar and the casino. Plus I own a pizza business and I have drivers that work for tip, I mean they make a pay check, but they are out there burning their gas and coming to your door. So maybe that is why I tip very well. How much should I tip the pizza guy at home?
crusinpsychRN Posted July 31, 2016 #78 Share Posted July 31, 2016 I guess we're cheap we figure - we prepay gratuities - the cruise line states room service is included - we do not tip room service but then we don't order stuff from room service you have to pay for! From what I've read on other cruise websites - tipping room service strated years ago when tips were left in envelopes for staff instead of prepaying! That is way rude. telebax51 Posted July 31, 2016 #79 Share Posted July 31, 2016 I've yet to order room service on a cruise but i would definitely give a tip. As far as Cabin Steward i give $10 the first day and another $10 the last day. I GUESS THAT IS HOW I WAS BROUGHT UP

ShakyBeef Posted July 31, 2016 #83 Share Posted July 31, 2016 Stirring The pot? You do realize that post was more than eleven years old, don't you? Even if it did get stirred, that pot has long since cooled and congealed.;)
