Galveston Cruiser Posted March 26, 2014 #1809 Share Posted March 26, 2014 At Pier 21 from 4pm to 7pm: A container ship passed us on the channel, coast guard following; did not observe any boats with spray to wash down other vessels, but we were at the port, not near that channel. Just glad to see movement at the port and hope that containment will be effective along our coast. Kudos to RCCL and all who hung in there knowing a vacation is what YOU make of it? SRV FAN Posted March 26, 2014 #1813 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Awesome news that the Navigator will sail tomorrow! Royal Caribbean ROCKS for making this call! A "FREE" (albeit short) cruise is so awesome for those that hung in there............... I'm sure some are kicking themselves for bailing out early! Y'all have fun!! :D
Dlobreh1 Posted March 26, 2014 #1814 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Navigator. Woohoo. Sailing to Coz in the am. Be back Sunday. We get to still have a free trip. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk So glad yall are getting to still go to Cozumel and it's free plus the extra 25% off the next cruise; great deal. I'm so happy that there were folks on board that weren't going to let this ruin their vacation.
LindaO Posted March 26, 2014 #1815 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Does anyone know what is going on with the tanker and the ship that hit it? Is the tanker still partially submerged... or did they move it? Is there any chance of any of the other cells leaking? I'm hoping that is all under control and the ships that have gone out and the Navigator leaving will get back in on schedule?? Just a thought... hope it is all good... but just curious. First of all, there was no tanker involved. A bunker oil barge was being towed and hit a bulk carrier. A tank was ruptured on the barge and approximately 168,000 gallons of bunker oil spilled. Neither the ship or the barge sunk.

Thanks for the info... so have both the ship and the barge been removed from the area? We aren't getting much news here in Florida about this... and just hoping clean up is going well and there isn't a chance of further loss. No port deserves the 'bad luck' that has hit Galveston!!
