royal caribbean, brilliance of the sea or celebrity constellation

Hello, My "mobility challenged" mother and I are planning a scandinavia cruise in May 2013. A couple of questions in regards to these 2 lines, as we have only been on 1 cruise and it wasn't together. Servic? Ammenities? and amount of children on board this type of cruise in May? (sorry to the parents, I don't dislike kids however it makes the cruise experience different).

Thank You Kindly..;)

You might want to search public holidays and school holidays before you pick a week to go. It could make a difference with families on cruises.

I've only sailed on Royal which caters to all demographics - it just depends on time of year. My friend has only sailed on Celebrity and she enjoys it. Both lines are under the same Company so I'm sure they are close but with Celebrity being a step up from Royal - just look at the prices between the two and you can guess who mainly sails on each line.

We sailed Royal Carribean exclusively (except for one Carnival with my brother's family) until last year, when we decided we were tired of the smoke everywhere. We gave Celebrity a try and loved it. In addition to much less smoking allowed (none on balconies or in the casino!) there were also very few announcements, compared to lots of very loud ones on RC. More of an upscale, adult vibe, too. Don't get me wrong, we still like RC. We're taking our kids on an RC cruise next summer because Celebrity doesn't go to Bahamas then. But I would definitely take my "mobility challenged" mother on Celebrity. I hope you have a wonderful, memorable cruise with your mom! :D

I have been on both ship classes. These 2 ships are very similar. In fact, they are built on the same hull, so are the same size. And with a Scandinavian itinerary, the on board demographic will likely be the same. Both have adults only Solarium pools, 2 story dining rooms, and similar activites and amenities. The biggest difference is the smoking policy. BOS allows smoking on balconies, in the casino, and in a couple of the bars. Constellation does not allow smoking on balconies or in the casino. I believe there is only one small section of one lounge inside where smoking is permitted.

Because these 2 ships are so similar, I would go with whichever one has the slightly better itinerary or slightly better price.
