Walk from Port of Miami to Hertz Downtown

I searched but did not find much on this subject. Can I walk from my cruise ship to the downtown Hertz location instead of waiting for the shuttle or taking a cab? I would then drive back to pick up the rest of my party and our luggage.

 

I did find in past posts that it is possible to walk from POM but I am wondering if I should plan to walk to the downtown Hertz location. Is this a possible walk (I walk 4+ miles per day. But this is vacation ...).

 

I could just take a cab but I hate to have a cabbie queue up in line at the port only for a small fare. Thoughts?

Just take the shuttle

It is possible to walk, although I wouldn't personally do it.

 

I would only take the shuttle if it was right there. I would jump in the taxi, and tell him to take me to the Hertz and promise him a nice fat tip. :cool:
