ondeckatsea Posted December 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 26, 2012 We have about $350 cabin credit coming to us on our 14 day March cruise and I'm wondering if I can use the credit as a first payment on a future cruise booked while on the March cruise. We will be in the Caribbean for the 20th time so don't want to waste the credit on tours or pictures or shops on board. We can pretty much find our way around the islands on our own. We don't gamble, are Elite so the drinks during the cocktail hour are more than enough for us.
trainfan Posted December 26, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2012 You cannot use room credits on Princess as deposits on future cruises are processed separately from your shipboard account. They can however be used to pay the gratuity. The room credit will be the first item on your shipboard account and will appear as a negative balance. paul929207 Posted December 26, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 26, 2012 You do not indicate the cruise line. On Princess you cannot. You purchase of one or more FCCs goes to a credit card, not to your onboard account
Rare Essiesmom Posted December 27, 2012 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2012 Nor on Carnival. You have to use a credit card on Carnival. But I think the OP is booked on Celebrity. EM

Krazy Kruizers Posted December 27, 2012 #6 Share Posted December 27, 2012 Don't kow what cruise line you are on...........Celebrity?? Check with your cruise line -- you may be able to use that shipboard credit to pay for your automatic gratuities or hotel service charge.
jdvmd Posted December 27, 2012 #7 Share Posted December 27, 2012 Think the OP is on Celebrity because they mentioned the Elite cocktail hour. Pretty sure the OBC cannot be used for a future cruise.
ondeckatsea Posted December 27, 2012 Author #8 Share Posted December 27, 2012 Thanks guys. I was pretty sure Celebrity wouldn't go that way. I'll give it a try anyway and if it doesn't work we will do the withdrawals at the casino, if they haven't stopped that yet. When the initial statement was drawn up, on board the Constellation last March, the gratuities were added in as well as the taxes. I have to add in that the cruisers on this site are so great. Whenever I've had a problem or a question I can count on getting help from you all. I hope I can do the same too.
marco Posted December 27, 2012 #9 Share Posted December 27, 2012 If it's $350 per cabin (not per guest) and it's a 14 day cruise, most of it can go towards "autotip" gratuities. Even at $10 a day, that's $280 for a couple. That would leave you $70, which you could get 10 or so cocktails or glasses of wine.....2 people.....14 days..... 10 beverages......I think you could manage that. sail7seas Posted December 27, 2012 #10 Share Posted December 27, 2012 Or buy a photo or t shirt in gift shop or maybe a manicure/pedicure. Hopefully you can find something to enjoy and use it up. :)
