Almost Packed Posted January 13, 2013 #451 Share Posted January 13, 2013 I don't remember seeing it on the everyday menus John posted for the Blogger's cruise. Maybe it was just an accidental omission. It was still listed on the regular dinner menu for the first elegant night. Now I know how to see if anyone is paying attention. :D I'm paying attention..but since how i don't eat seafood...any....it didn't pertain to me or warrant comment...but now i'll comment lol. :)
Sargent_Schultz Posted January 13, 2013 Author #452 Share Posted January 13, 2013 just curious, in the past, were the round tables larger? did they seat more people? ??? i seem to recall them being larger. it was my first cruise so i could be mistaken. Yes, no, maybe. On Conquest? Were you in the other dining room? Anyway, the table sizes/distributions are different between the Renoir and Monet dining rooms on Carnival Conquest. The pictures you quoted were from the Renoir Dining room - the dining room in the middle. The aft dining room, Monet, has a different distribution and round tables up to 10 or so. 12 in the case of the Captain's table. From the same cruise

jabberman_76366 Posted January 13, 2013 #456 Share Posted January 13, 2013 Great review! I do have a questions about Belize, though. How safe is it? I figure if your on a Carnival excursion it woukld be ok. What are your thoughts? Does the Conquest have the same shows?
eltigre Posted January 13, 2013 #457 Share Posted January 13, 2013 First time for the Conquest & a ship with the Movie Screen so I am appreciating all the info. There are two things I have noticed in all your exterior pics. The TV always has something on it & many of the pool loungers are gone. First the TV. Is it always on & is there always volume? I am trying to figure out just how intrusive it is. For me it's one of those things I try to escape from on a cruise..I love those quiet times by the hot tubs (: The loungers. DH is a smoker & he like to sit at the tables & chairs along the edges/sides on the pool deck to read. I grab a lounger closer to the pool & read. The sea days are important to us & this way we are both happy. Will this be possible on the ship without having to get up at 6am to get one of the few longers by the pool? Thanks so much Pat
Sargent_Schultz Posted January 13, 2013 Author #458 Share Posted January 13, 2013 Great review! I do have a questions about Belize, though. How safe is it? I figure if your on a Carnival excursion it woukld be ok. What are your thoughts? Does the Conquest have the same shows? Thank you! No place, especially the United States, is absolutely safe. But the cruise line and their excursions are not going to intentionally put you at risk. If anything, cruise lines tend to be overly protective and conservative when it comes to your safety. I've been to Belize a number of times and have never been concerned for my safety. I sometimes take non-ship tours. Cruise ship passengers usually don't have the opportunity to get so far off the beaten path that they can get into to much trouble. If you are concerned, it might be best for you to stick with a ship tour. Having said all that, 2013 started out with a bang in Belize City, and I imagine Carnival is keeping an eye on it. Things seem to have calmed down. For the good and bad about Belize, Lan Sluder, an American ex-pat, lives in Belize and operates an excellent website with lots of information and downloads http://www.belizefirst.com/ On the question of shows, they are Playlist Productions and are all new. Thanks so much Pat I didn't notice it being too intrusive. It may be always on, but often there is no sound. Sometimes a DJ might be playing music or a solo musician by one of the bars. On smoking, there is no smoking around the pool or in the general area. There is smoking 1 deck up on the starboard side. There are plenty of lounge chairs there. The rules from the Fun Times (Daily Paper) on Smoking "Smoking is prohibited in all guest staterooms. Guests in balcony rooms are permitted to smoke on the stateroom balcony. Smoking is permitted in the Casino while playing at designated slot machines and table games, one section of the Casino Bar, in Vincent's Lounge, Henri's Nightclub, and deck 10 midship starboard (right) side only. Cigar/pipe smoking is only permitted in the Vincent's Lounge and Deck 10 Starboard Side and stateroom balconies." I'm certainly not up at the crack of dawn They may eventually be harder to find
Rowan555 Posted January 13, 2013 #460 Share Posted January 13, 2013 I wasn't aware that smoking is no longer allowed anywhere on Lido - I am THRILLED to know this! On the Magic we always ate inside (burrito bar every single day lol) so I didn't notice whether there were smokers. I know in the past we've had issues on Lido due to the smoke, even when it was restricted to one side. I just had sinus surgery, and I have been worrying about the level of smoke on the ship - since I don't gamble, and we don't have a balcony, I think I'll be just fine :-)
ksy8384 Posted January 13, 2013 #461 Share Posted January 13, 2013 I am almost to the end of what you have so far but I wanted to add my thanks to all the others. We leave on the Conquest in a week and this thread has really helped me familiarize myself with what's available. I haven't seen this asked yet and forgive me if I haven't gotten to it yet, but what do they show on the movie screen? Thanks.

Yvonne Posted January 13, 2013 #464 Share Posted January 13, 2013 Still enjoying your awesome review, and hoping you'll be posting more photos of Chankanaab Park. We did the dolphin encounter last time we were there and didn't have much time to spend in the park itself so that is our plan this time. To just take a cab from the ship to the park and spend as much time as we can. But I see from your photos there is a Poncho's and a Three Amigos near the pier too? I'm sure my husband will want to spend some time at one of those too. ;)
Rowan555 Posted January 13, 2013 #465 Share Posted January 13, 2013 Works for me but I don't hang out by the pool, anyway. :) I try to avoid it at all cost myself, lol! When my daughter was younger, though, I had to sit and watch her when she swam, and it always seemed like smoke was blowing past my face. And once or twice we got stuck sitting in or very near the smoking area to eat, and that was an awful experience.

They have various things on the big screen - I think the Morning Show from the ship, various themes and scenes from cruising - sunsets and stuff, a couple of movies a day, some music videos. Some football games, but not many left now. A schedule will be in the Fun Times each day. Just saying hi - we'll be on the Conquest with you :-) Guess i better get this moving again. Sargent_Schultz Posted January 13, 2013 Author #470 Share Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) If anyone knows anything about Chankanaab, it is probably the dolphins. Chankanaab and the rest of Cozumel was heavily damaged by Hurricane Wilma a few years ago and it took a while for them to rebuild, but the dolphin's were on of the attractions they brought back first, then the sea lions, and they now even have some manatees. The dolphin pen is huge and at any given moment there could be several dolphin swims and other events going on. These are popular but not particularly cheap. What many may not know is they have free sea lion shows and even a free dolphin/manatee show or two, although none of those allow you to participate. You can have a camera for the sea lion shows, but they don't allow them for the dolphins or manatees. Sargent_Schultz Posted January 13, 2013 Author #473 Share Posted January 13, 2013 There are replica scaled down Mayan ruins and some decent snorkeling at Chankanaab and even a fresh water pool with a swim up bar! I had seen the "ruins" before so didn't this time, but you can probably find a guide who will take you through them for "free", a tip is expected.
