maxs mom Posted January 8, 2013 Author #101 Share Posted January 8, 2013 oh Jane, I'm so sorry you lost your pics . . . I take so few anymore I was reliving our cruise through you:DWe were also at Lions Dive in Curacao but didn't spot you there - lovely isn't it? Wow, Mel......we really should have gotten together. We could have saved some money on cab fare!!
maxs mom Posted January 8, 2013 Author #102 Share Posted January 8, 2013 So after lunch.....we went on over to the photo gallery and chose the pictures that we wanted to buy. It wasn't crowded at this time, so it didn't take very long. Next we went back to the cabin to do the serious and dreaded packing. I had my main bag packed in no time. Then it was time to read and nap.......looking at the wonderful ocean one more time! I hate this sight! Just a little more holiday! The promenade on the last day: The main dining room: Our special area of the dining room on deck 5. Loved it here! That's our table right there. maxs mom Posted January 8, 2013 Author #103 Share Posted January 8, 2013 Tonight in the CL, we met Cynthia and David, Karen and Dale, and Guy and Lisa one more time. Guy and Lisa were staying on board one more week. Cynthia and David were staying on board for three more weeks!! We had such a nice time with these folks! Some last minute toasts: I think David was ready for another gin and tonic! One more for the road! Glad I'm not driving.

maxs mom Posted January 8, 2013 Author #106 Share Posted January 8, 2013 It was really hard saying good bye to everybody......but we had to get to the MDR for dinner. Silvia is going to be a good Concierge.
6rugrats Posted January 8, 2013 #107 Share Posted January 8, 2013 Thanks' date=' [b']Melanie[/b]! I was beginning to think I had done something wrong! Didn't know you were there, too! Yes......they did put tags on our chairs. I didn't say you did anything wrong. I was just curious, as Amsterdam Manor did used to rent chairs/palapas to day visitors, but have stated they will no longer do so. All chair or palapa rentals are going through their sister hotel, MVC Eagle Beach. Maybe it's like most things; depends to whom you speak.
maxs mom Posted January 8, 2013 Author #108 Share Posted January 8, 2013 So down to dinner......same table......same waiter. I just let Christopher order for me, and once again, he did not disappoint. I had the spinach dip, a very good salad, some sort of shrimp dumpling thing (new), and for dessert.....the new and improved warm chocolate cake! I must say ......it was really good and much better than the old one! Our wait staff for most of the week were wonderful. Definitely go with the waiter's recommendations. You won't be sorry. Here's some more food porn from earlier in the week. I just forgot about them. This is the mushrooms in puff pastry: This was a tasty dessert that I had one night: And John always gets the sugar free chocolate ice cream:

All chair or palapa rentals are going through their sister hotel, MVC Eagle Beach. Maybe it's like most things; depends to whom you speak. Oh.... I know! How would you go about getting chairs from MVC Eagle Beach? What does MVC stand for? Do you go to the same place? Or do you arrange it ahead of time? I'm glad they let us stay there. Really.....the beach attendant didn't blink an eye or say anything to us. We got there pretty early.
maxs mom Posted January 8, 2013 Author #110 Share Posted January 8, 2013 After dinner, we went back to the cabin and got our suitcases out in the hallway.......always a sad sight! We turned in early. Coming up.......disembarkation day and a very nice day in San Juan.
maxs mom Posted January 8, 2013 Author #111 Share Posted January 8, 2013 Oh.....I think I forgot to answer the person that asked about the noise by the hump cabins. It is pretty much non existant. We've had cabins in this area many times and have never had a problem. Don't worry about it!

Cshgrand Posted January 8, 2013 #113 Share Posted January 8, 2013 Another suitcase, another hall... For someone who looks impeccably dressed and very chic in every photo you pack very concisely! Do you know what weight your case was? Strange question I know but we will prob be flying three different airlines to get to SJ and back next year with different weight restrictions. Sent from my KFTT using Tapatalk 2 Well.....thanks so much for that compliment! Actually our suitcases were really light this time. I couldn't believe it! Now I had another one that was much smaller that is a carry on, but I think one was 43 pounds and the other was low 30's. They were easy to manage. maxs mom Posted January 8, 2013 Author #117 Share Posted January 8, 2013 Sunday ~ December 30th ~ San Juan Well.....I guess we'll have to get off today. (sigh) We got up around 6 this morning and we were already docked. We went down to the MDR for breakfast and noticed that the D/D+ area was opened this morning. We have never seen that before.....so we went on in. Nobody was there......only waiters. So we had the place to ourselves. Talk about good service! We saw another waitress that we had on the Serenade. I couldn't believe it. It was nice to have a nice relaxing, un- hurried breakfast this last morning. Here we are all by oursleves! After breakfast, we went back to our cabin and got all our stuff together. We had so many loose things all over the place. It was hard to get it together. But we did and left our cabin around 8 o'clock. We said good bye to our wonderful cabin steward, Jesmond. The departure area for D/D+ was in the dining room on deck 4, so we went there. That was very convenient as it was right by the area for debarkation. We only sat there for about 5-10 minutes before they called us to get off. Very quick debarkation......no lines. There was an older couple walking slowly in front of us, though, and when we got to the escalator.....the man panicked and fell down the escalator. It was awful. They immediately stopped the escalator and helped him off. He appeared to be OK, but I'm sure he was probably pretty sore. Our luggage was right there waiting on us......no problem....and we breezed through customs. As we were walking out to the taxis, we noticed a big table with nothing but irons all over it. Big irons, small irons, travel irons......it was hilarious. I'm so sorry I didn't get a picture of that! The attendant was also laughing!
maxs mom Posted January 8, 2013 Author #118 Share Posted January 8, 2013 We immediately got a taxi and headed over to our hotel. We were spending one night in San Juan before returning home. Got a better airfare and we would miss all the cruise crowd at the airport on Monday. The only problem was I had a hard time finding a hotel room for the night. All our favorite hotels were booked when I started looking for a room. I finally found something at the Verdanza. This hotel is right next to the Embassy Suites. We got there very early and, of course, no rooms were ready, but they checked our luggage and we had the run of the property until a room was ready for us. They took my cell phone number and would call when that time came. So we got some coffee and hung around the lobby for a little bit. Then we moved on out to the pool area. It was quite nice......and.....a bonus......not crowded at all. Here are some pictures of the pool area......very nice: While we were out at the pool, we met another couple who were just off the Adventure as well. They were Diamond Plus folks as well, and we had a nice lunch and chat with them while we were waiting on our rooms. They called to say that our rooms were ready while we were eating lunch, so afterwards we went on up to our room. It was nice, though old, and was just fine for spending one night. I would definitely stay there again. We actually got a pretty nice corner room. Here is the view from our room of the pool:
maxs mom Posted January 8, 2013 Author #119 Share Posted January 8, 2013 We just crashed in our room for the remainder of the afternoon. I finished a book and John watched the NFL. We had such a big lunch, that we just got some sandwiches for dinner. We got to bed early because we had an early flight in the morning. More views from our room. You can see how close this hotel is to the beach. Nice location. Lots of inexpensive restaurants in the area, also. We were up at 5 AM on Monday morning and got ourselves over to the aeropuerto. Taxis were readily available at that hour of the morning. Another nice thing about this hotel is its availability to the airport. About 5 minutes. We got to the airport and ran our stuff quicly tbrough the USDA check point, then checked in with Delta.....no lines. We went quickly through security and were on our way. What a great trip......just way too short. Thank goodness we booked another cruise while on board! Next up......The Independence of the Seas 8 night on March 30th for Spring Break. Then retirement in June and the sky's the limit!! Woo Hoo! Well, friends.....thanks for reading! I apologize again for my stupid mistake with the pictures. Still shaking my head about that! I may try to copy and paste and reinsert the pictures in a new thread. But that will have to wait until the week-end. We'll see. Keep an eye out for it just in case! So .....now it's time for a toast to all our cruise buddies past, present,.......and future. Hope to see you on a Royal Caribbean cruise again real soon! (And often!!) Here's a parting shot from the beach in Curacao:

luvdisney2010 Posted January 9, 2013 #125 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Great review! We were on the same cruise. I just told my DH about the announcement at 2:15 and again at 2:30 on the 26th for the missing girls. He said , "I never heard it. Didn't know about that." Of our three cabins, I don't think any of us knew about that. We were also tickled by the sight of all the irons on the table as we disembarked. Did you see the boomerang too? DS 9 wanted to go check it out.
