ETinCA Posted February 23, 2015 #51 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Confirmed by John Heald this am that San Diego is not getting a ship in this current reshuffle. Guess that means nothing through Q-1 of 2017. Damn. Very disappointed.

jnojr Posted November 9, 2015 #53 Share Posted November 9, 2015 This story sheds a little bit of light, and extends a small glimmer of hope. I saw where someone above mentioned Helad said no San Diego until 2017 earliest. The more we contact Carnival and tell them we want them back, the better! Someone else mentioned Carnival not wanting to cannibalize HAL, but I think that's nonsense. They're two VERY different cruise lines with very different itineraries. HAL doesn't go to Mexico, they go to Vancouver for short cruises. I think one of the old Fantasy class ships back in SD would do well, certainly if the security situation in Mexico stays the same or improves. That's never bothered me, but lots of people got afraid, which is why Carnival pulled out in the first place. Let's all send them a comment or email asking them to come back! ccruisequeen Posted November 9, 2015 #54 Share Posted November 9, 2015 HAL does go to Mexico. 7-days from San Diego. I still cruise for Warm Chocolate Melting Cake (with 2 sugar free ice creams), lobster, and Creme brulee!
MaiTaiMary Posted January 7, 2016 Author #55 Share Posted January 7, 2016 HAL does go to Mexico. 7-days from San Diego. But I want Carnival!! :D
riffatsea Posted January 7, 2016 #56 Share Posted January 7, 2016 Carnival corporation did not pull out of San Diego because of fears about Mexico! HAL goes there and so do Princess and Carnival from the LA ports. We were told a long time ago that when San Diego built their new terminal it was too small and too expensive and so Carnival moved out. I don't expect any new ships here but would love it if they came back. Royal did pull out of California completely but we would be back with them immediately if they returned!! I don't expect it and wonder if we will even get another ship in Long Beach when the Miracle leaves for China??

I prefer the Spirit class ships..but heck...I'd even be happy to see a Conquest class ship in Long Beach.

I was sooooooo sad when they decided to pull their ships from here. :( Would love to do the 8-day Spirit cruise to the Exotic Riviera again. PAPERBKWRITER Posted August 14, 2016 #63 Share Posted August 14, 2016 I miss going to Acapulco Me too. I always feel so safe when I see covered trucks filled with soldiers carrying assault rifles staring you down as they pass you.

MaiTaiMary Posted August 19, 2016 Author #65 Share Posted August 19, 2016 I loved Acapulco and Zihuatenejo! Both so different, yet fun ports.
glrounds Posted August 24, 2016 #66 Share Posted August 24, 2016 The fort at Acapulco is fascinating. Right across the street from the port and up the hill; complete with a moat and drawbridge, and huge cannons on the roof.
