JulieRose Posted January 18, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2013 I just received a call from my TA telling me that she was able to get us priority boarding for our EoS voyage next month as a 'perk' for booking with her. Of course, I simply said "Sure! Send me the paperwork." but we've never traveled with RCI or out of Bayonne before so I'm not even really sure what this means. Is there a separate waiting area or something? We are not in a suite or JS, this is simply a TA perk so what should we expect when we get to the pier? Do we follow signs for suite passengers or will there be separate signage for those in this situation? (wouldn't want to unintentionally offend any suite passengers by making them mingle with steerage!) I would appreciate any info/tips from anyone who has experience with this. Thanks! knicksak2 Posted January 18, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2013 Usually priority Boarding is when you are a member whether it be platinum or diamond or gold or whatever so my best guess would be to go to where that check in is because they all have the same line. leaveitallbehind Posted January 18, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2013 Priority boarding is seperated by C & A level at check in. There is also a seperate check in and boarding area for suites (JS and above). In Bayonne, the general and suite check in and boarding areas are in seperate rooms. (the suite check in being a smaller room to the left of the general boarding area as you enter). The two times we were at Bayonne we were in suites so I don't have direct information as to how the general boarding priority lines are set up or how fast it moves there. But I am sure it is similar to other ports with individual check in lines based on C & A status. Your boarding will depend on what priority status your TA arranged. It is a nice sounding perk which is basically meaningless.
Heidils Posted January 18, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 18, 2013 It is a nice sounding perk which is basically meaningless. It is...we are just Gold and everyone was directed to priority...you should have heard the Diamonds behind us... Not such a perk as the pier does what they choose. I would appreciate any info/tips from anyone who has experience with this. Thanks! Our last cruise out of Bayonne we were priority boarding. Got to the port all ready for the priority boarding line, walked up, and one of the RCI guys said "you can go right there" and pointed to one of the steerage customer service reps where there was no line. It took us about 10 minutes to register. To make matters worse, 5 minutes later they put us on a bus with a bunch of riff raff from New York and Boston.

There better at least be a lounge somewhere with free drinks that only we can enjoy! Where is my dedicated C & A rep?..............Something like that? :D And to make it worse, we will be D+ on our next cruise and also book suites from time to time. Imagine the horror of us - D+ and a suite!! How can we be tolerated? :D Really, we're all not that bad. Many of us just enjoy cruising and over the years (20 in our case) have simply reached that level. And yes, we enjoy the perks, but not all of us are elitists. But I had to respond - you did open the door! :D:D

I met some wonderful people on our cruise that happen to be Diamond, but it wasn't the first thing out of their mouth. (Thom) Then I met other's who I just didn't even want to meet. I'm happy that you have reached your status and hope to do so as well someday. I just have learned how I want to behave when I do. Happy sailing! Heidils Posted January 18, 2013 #13 Share Posted January 18, 2013 Ok gotta go there, ... We saw another CC member on board. She posted what she would be wearing, and when I spotted her I wanted to go and say hello. While I was putting my stuff down hubby went up to the bar where she was sitting. The bartender asked what he would like...he gave his order. She said, "he'll get yours when he's finished with mine." Hmmm... so I waited. He came back and said, "please don't talk to her she is a jerk." We listened (she was loud) to her conversation with another couple who was in pain. LOL She cruises all the time, only drinks champagne, and her husband got her a stretch limo to go on her solo cruise. Good enough, we had no desire to say hello. The funniest part is we seem to run into her several times and heard the same story several times. My husband said, "No wonder he sends her on her own and gets her a stretch limo. He and his secretary must be happy to do it. THEN....I run into her in the spa...mind you she doesn't recognize me at all, and the first thing out of her mouth as if I have a name tag on is, "Where are the towels?' HUH? I don't know? This being a funny event, I must say, I did meet many frequent and Diamond cruisers that were wonderful. It takes all types I guess.
