happy_travellers Posted December 16, 2013 #1255 Share Posted December 16, 2013 So much wonderful info on here. We are taking the Legend of the Seas in May. We will be in Copenhagen May9,10 and in between cruises on May 17 and again May 24 departing at noon on May 25th. I would like to find something outside the city to do on one of those days. Maybe on the in between cruise ( May 17th 8am -5pm) would be a good day. Any suggestions? Also we are going to be in Copenhagen May 9th for our anniversary any suggestions for a nice dinner option? We are planning on going to Tivoli on Sat. May 24th evening. Thanks so much, Karen

Thanks so much, Karen Lets take this day by day :-) May 9th: Dinner at one of the 2 stared Michelin restaurants Geranium is awarded the 48 best restaurant in the world and chef Rasmus kofoed has been awarded rest chef in the world (Bucose D´Or). http://geranium.dk/ Noma or Nordisk Mad (nordic food) has been awarded best restaurant in the world 3 years in a row but its curently number 2. http://noma.dk/ Both restaurants should be booked months in advance, so maybe its better to choose now. The other eleven restaurants are here (all with 1 star) http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/copenhagen/gastronomy/michelin-starred-restaurants I´m usually suggesting a trip to both Frederiksborg Palace and Kronborg (hamlet) Castle but with the limited time there will only be time for one (I think) Take S-train line A to Hillerød, the trip takes 45 minutes or so. Please notice that its only in the weekend that line A goes all the way to Hillerød, on a regular workday Line E that skips alot of stops will be going all the way to Hillerød. It only takes 20 minutes to walk to the palace. https://maps.google.dk/maps?saddr=Hiller%C3%B8d+Station,+Nordre+Jernbanevej,+Hiller%C3%B8d&daddr=55.9304542,12.3011084+to:Frederiksborg+Slot,+3400+Hiller%C3%B8d&hl=da&ie=UTF8&ll=55.929683,12.303228&spn=0.015627,0.038581&sll=55.929959,12.304044&sspn=0.007813,0.01929&geocode=FVNhVQMdGdi7ACGSfDcN0jCtwCmfgYM7uUBSRjGSfDcN0jCtwA%3BFVZuVQMdNLO7ACkb3HkalkBSRjF1jDN0PSsPnA%3BFfV_VQMd2LO7ACnhQSl2l0BSRjFSYWskNKbGEg&oq=hiller%C3%B8d+&t=h&dirflg=w&mra=dpe&mrsp=1&sz=16&via=1&z=15 If you have the time then take a trip on the small boat that sails in the castle lakes. http://www.partrederiet.dk/ Edited December 17, 2013 by Danish viking

StevenW Posted December 28, 2013 #1263 Share Posted December 28, 2013 Wow. I've just finished reading the entire 1262 posts in one sitting (along with many of the associated links), as part of my planning for a June 2014 cruise out of Copenhagen. Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful information contributed, especially to Danish Viking who has contributed a ridiculous volume of information for one person. (Danish Viking - forgive me if you find this comment too confrontational, however I'm troubled by the amount of time you must put into researching & responding to all these questions, and I feel compelled to say something. Whilst you started this invaluable thread, I recommend letting some of your countrymen / neighbours respond to more of these questions, so that you have more time available to devote towards other aspects of your life away from the computer. Life is too short.)

Danish viking Posted December 29, 2013 Author #1265 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Funny enough I'm finding it more exiting when there is more activity in "my" thread. All 1200 pages has been created during 1 year, that's somewere around 4 posts a day with me making around 1 or 2 of them. Usually I collect a few days questions (if there are any) and handle them in one take and that is probably 20-30 minutes every second or third day. Most questions I know the answer of so it reduces my "working" time. But sometimes I need to investigate it further in order to give a good answer and I actually find it funny to dig up answers. I have also had questions about if I worked for the Visit Copenhagen tourist office but in that case I need a serious pay check.

nisky Posted December 31, 2013 #1270 Share Posted December 31, 2013 Danish viking & others: Thank you for your earlier advice on taxis from the airport. We have now booked the Imperial Hotel in August 2014. Can you advise how we would get from the airport to this hotel by public transit and how far we would have to walk with our luggage from station (train?/metro?) to this hotel. I'm sorry if this has been asked by someone before. Thanks! nisky
Danish viking Posted December 31, 2013 Author #1271 Share Posted December 31, 2013 Happy New years to all of You even though there are a little bit less than 8 hours left of the new year here in Denmark :D Imperial is located next to Vesterport S-train station. The most easy way is to take the airport train to København H (Central Station) and then either take any nortbound S-trains from track 9-10 to the next station Vesterport or walk from the central station. https://maps.google.dk/maps?saddr=K%C3%B8benhavns+Hovedbaneg%C3%A5rd+Posthus,&daddr=Imperial+Hotel,+Vester+Farimagsgade,+K%C3%B8benhavn&hl=da&ie=UTF8&sll=55.672472,12.563841&sspn=0.015731,0.038581&geocode=FZh-UQMdgbW_ACG8Pbjhu201oCnh_NMBDVNSRjG8Pbjhu201oA%3BFWmLUQMdL62_ACHvBAQddheunCmbFf9sDFNSRjHvBAQddheunA&oq=imperial&t=h&mra=ls&z=
hubofhockey Posted December 31, 2013 #1272 Share Posted December 31, 2013 Danish Viking, I have done some reading about Copenhagen (heard same about Malmo, Sweden) and its troubles in the last few years with Muslim gangs. Danish viking Posted January 1, 2014 Author #1273 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Nørrebro is the only place to avoid especially Blågårds Plads and Mjølnerparken, but i have friends who lives in other areas of Nørrebro and I have never experienced anything. Danish viking Posted January 1, 2014 Author #1275 Share Posted January 1, 2014 As long as you don't have anything to do with drugs you should be okay. Its only in rare cases that people unrelated to Hells Angels, Bandidos or one the gangs (mainly Loyal To Familia, VHK, Bloods or Black cobra) has been a victim of any crime. As I understand it then it has something to do with controling the marijuana and narcotic market. Indre By (downtown) is mainly for tourists, office workers and people going out shopping, dining or going out for a drink so its not a place where you will see gangs. But its nowhere as bad as in Compton, Harlem, Bronx and whatever the ghettos are called.
