wework2play Posted February 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2013 What deck and location do you prefer? I am counting on advice from CC to choose my next stateroom. We take our kids, so I'm thinking a good location close to pool and pizza maybe. On our previous cruises, we have been mid ship and forward. Never toward the aft. But we found ourselves making the long haul to the back of the ship constantly. Also, we've never been higher than deck 6. Are there perks to being higher up such as lido deck? Suggestions please! Rare shof515 Posted February 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2013 i love deck 1,in the middle of the fwd and mid elevators
RealAlexD Posted February 1, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2013 I've been on deck 2 forward and deck 6 midship. The deck 6 was a better location, but I liked deck 2 because we took the stairs all the time, which made all the trips to the ice cream stations a bit more justified :)

katiel53 Posted February 1, 2013 #6 Share Posted February 1, 2013 I think it depends on the ship. When we sail Carnival Dream, we won't go below deck 8 and usually prefer to be near the mid-ship elevator. On other ships, we still prefer to be mid-ship as it's an easy walk to either end, but we don't need to be up as high. All our cabins are balconies though as my husband is claustrophobic and needs to be able to go outside whenever he feels like it.

Rayefan Posted February 1, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 1, 2013 We LOVE the Lido deck cabins for the location and easy access to the pools etc. and we typically book on the Lido. However, if another location came up with a better pricing deal I will book that.

CapeCodCruiser Posted February 1, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 1, 2013 We (I say "we" like my DH really gets a say so!) really like Lido deck forward - cabins above & below close to the action!

sanmarcosman Posted February 1, 2013 #12 Share Posted February 1, 2013 On Spirit class ships I like to be on Main deck mid-ship.

westview1 Posted February 1, 2013 #14 Share Posted February 1, 2013 On Spirit class ships I like to be on Main deck mid-ship. Another vote for Main deck mid-ship. We also like Main deck aft balcony or Upper deck mid ship. Right in the middle of everything, 2 or 3 decks down to the MDR or theater, and 3 or 4 up to the Lido deck. We have found that we like to sit in the balcony of the theater, the seats are more comfortable and less of a crowd when exiting.
WetToes Posted February 1, 2013 #15 Share Posted February 1, 2013 I have no 'real' preference, as long as I have my balcony, ... but would not care to be in the very front. I am a 'little' partial to the lower decks, ... like being close to the water.
TabFox Posted February 1, 2013 #16 Share Posted February 1, 2013 I've done Lido inside and balcony, as well as verandah balcony and other insides. This year I'm doing Empress, midship balcony. Midship and lower is best for less motion. I prefer balcony for the extra "breathing" room and not being so confined as an interior room. It's great to be able to read, relax in my pajamas or bathrobe on my balcony which is something I wouldn't/couldn't do on the lido deck. With kids, lido is great because it's just down the hall from the pool/buffet, etc. Regardless, if you're on a ship, you're in a great place! Enjoy your cruise! klmorg Posted February 1, 2013 #17 Share Posted February 1, 2013 We like to be near the back, and no more than 2 floors below from Lido. Balcony cabin only.
darth frosty Posted February 1, 2013 #18 Share Posted February 1, 2013 deck 7 aft My last 4 cruises have been there.
jiggs Posted February 1, 2013 #19 Share Posted February 1, 2013 I like midship because that is where the grand suites are...kidding...though we did sail there once and the lack of movement was noticeably different. I do like mid-ship. Now that we have a toddler in tow, we like to be close to the atrium elevators since there is a bit of less wait time for a ride. We've sailed on Lido and being able to walk from your cabin right to the main outdoor deck was cool.
Mizzouaholic Posted February 1, 2013 #20 Share Posted February 1, 2013 Riviera in the front or aft, inside cabin because its the cheapest!
Brenna's Mom1 Posted February 1, 2013 #21 Share Posted February 1, 2013 Mid-ship...center elevators, mid-deck....cabins above and below. Smoothest ride, most convenient, no noise. To compare: Lower decks mean either lots of stairs or elevator waits. Floors with dining room and kitchens above can get noisy. Forward cabins most unstable. Aft cabins with balconies can get some exhaust drift. Cabins above activity centers (disco, bars, casino) can get smoke drift, be noisy. Cabins on Lido (usually forward) are convenient to buffet and pools, inconvenient for other venues.
