Transport to ship from Rome airport

Are you staying at the airport??

You could take Oceania transfer for a fee (if you are at the airport for the transfer)

You can join the Roll Call for your cruise & maybe share a taxi to the port

Check the Ports of call forums as well for recommended taxis or car services

We need transport from Rome airport to our ship at Civitavecchia. We are coming in a day early and Oceania will not offer us transport.

You're coming into Rome a day early and going directly to Civitavecchia??

Have you thought this through?

We stayed at the Hotel Traiano (sp?) in Civitavecchia..they had driver pick us up at the airport..for a fee..and then the day of embarkation they had a

van going back and forth. they served a nice breakfast then we packed up and left.

Obviously, other posters have a question about where you are really going ...

But there are excellent limo services that can give you a transfer to the ship for far less than O would charge. Especially if you can find someone else on your roll call to share the car.

We had one service pick us up at the airport for transfer to our hotel in Rome (just us 2) and then another service picked us up with two other couples for transfer from Rome to the ship. Both were excellent.

I agree with Jim, though, about puzzlement about why you would come in a day early to stay in Civitavecchia. You could at least have a day in Rome.

Last time we shared a limo with another couple, but on one of our cruises out of Civitivecchia, we took the train from Rome's Termini. Nice 55 minute ride and easy to get a taxi to port. Only problem: you have to handle your own luggage and there are a few steps in the station upon arrival.

Another romecabs.com fan. We shared a van with two other couples our last trip and even with three different hotels, it was about 60 euros a couple. Even for just a couple, the car services are often cheaper than the cruise line transfers, much more comfortable too.

I agree with the other posters about RomeCabs; we used them twice in fall 2011. Lots of positive TripAdvisor reviews even then, as I recall. I would say in terms of being 'much more comfortable' though, it depends on the driver!

On our FCO-Rome transfer, we had a speed demon  - or perhaps just an average Rome cab driver. That said, he was prompt, courteous and the car was a sleek new Mercedes.

From Rome to Civitavecchia, they couldn't have been better. Due to unforeseen roadwork in front of the apartment we were renting, we changed the pickup location at the last minute to an alternate address two blocks away. The driver was actually early and came to the apartment anyway to help with the bags, unasked. He drove calmly and we enjoyed chatting all the way to the port. Two thumbs up for RomeCabs.

Great service from Stefano at Romecabs.com Have used him for both airport pickups, transportation to the ship, all-day tour of Rome, and most recently, since I've 'done' Rome a few times, right down to Civitaveccia. Wonderful little hotel there, Borgo del Mare, provided a good place to rest up from the flight, a charming restaurant, free breakfast, free internet and a free shuttle over to the ship the next morning. Arrived onboard rested and happy.
