beer tasting

If you come to Brooklyn, visit one of the Draft Barns. They have hundreds of beers from across the globe and the servers are fantastic. They have introduced me to some phenomenal beers that I would never have tried. You can just tell them what you like.

Hi thanks for all info . We were on the Jewel last week and did not end up doing the beer tasting. It was at 3:00 in the afternoon which for us is too early to start drinking alcohol. I ended up getting yummy margaritas each night at Moderno at about 6:00pm each night. We are booked on the Breakaway for next Feb so maybe then.

Not sure if you're subscribed to this....and this has been available for an hour already, but thought of you when I read it:

Last one I saw was 150 bucks a bottle. Four years ago. I heard that the batch from two years ago went to 180 / bottle. I'm wondering if that 115 is Canadian dollars?

Koch is a nutcase who is having a ball making beer.

I'm not certain that I can pull the trigger on it. It might not be legal to sell it where I live. I could get 8-10 good bombers of something Belgian for 150 clams.

If you want to do some beer tastings just come to the UK in April and tour a few JDwetherspoon

(they don't have them all at the same time)

:) I don't need to go to the UK to find great beer, it's available here.

Interesting note: On a cruise, we met a retired Royal Navy chap from Dorset that we stay in contact with. His new favorite beer? Coor's Light.

I told him that I was sad for him.

Or there is The Great British Beer Festival 13-17 August 2013 at Olympia in London (within staggering distance for me ;) )

I consider myself pretty liberal when it comes to beer. I LOVE a good home brew, and I visit every micro-brewery that I can. My favorites are IPA's and Stouts. But... this is where it gets weird. Although I usually have a few sixers of some local bottled or a few "Growlers" of brew around, my favorite go to is..... "Miller" the champagne of beers in the clear bottle! On a scorching hot day after jack hammering a parched concrete bridge deck, get home and it is hard to beat a ice cold Miller.

On Princess to Alaska they were serving some local beer with a killer whale jumping out of the water on the label. I think it was from Seattle. It was good, not great.

It would be nice if the cruise line (NCL) would always have a stock of local (to the embarkation port) beer on board.

I didn't realize NCL had a beer tasting. I think I would do it just for the good time to be had. I will look for it on my GEM cruise in June.

I found there, a case of 24 bottles of their own brand, Kirkland "handcrafted" ales for 18 bucks. Fresh, tasty and cheap at less than a dollar a bottle. They come in 4 varieties of ale in each case. Very impressed by it.

Even that stuff would be a step in the right direction for cruise ship's list.
