First off, let me say that I don't doubt what Boavfan said about her return trip at all. However, in the past when we have left San Juan we did not encounter such problems as a 3 hr. wait to check our luggage. Since we will be on the next sailing of the Adventure I would appreciate it very much if anyone could let me know, is this now the norm in San Juan?

I was on the same cruise as Boavfan and for us, checking in at SJ airport was simple and easy. We arrived at the airport about 1:30 for 4:00 flight and got thru the agriculture inspection in about 2 minutes and checked our bags right away. no lines to speak of for us. As someone else said, San Juan airport won't usually let you check your bags until 3 hrs before flight time.

The biggest issue last Sunday with the airport was traffic and security, with increased police presence. There was a marathon going on which closed some roads, protesters about the airport privatization, and a bad accident which messed up traffic for a while.

I finally have had a chance to catch up on all the postings of this week. Robyn, sounds like you are having as good a second week as last week was. It was a wonderful vacation! Your daughter is a darling, lovely young lady! Not to exclude your hubby, he is very nice as well.

I was initially disappointed they didn't have strawberry mix for daiquiri's last week. I quickly became attached to the various lava flow drinks which made me forget about the daiquiri's. :) I discovered frozen mojitos are also very good!!

I also learned i really like Caribe beer!! Oh and Purple Rain - a great drink I discovered in Aruba. It was a very educational trip. :D

I still think Aruba is my favorite island to date. Love Palm Beach, but also love the cacti and the ruggedness of the area by the natural bridges. The Rock Formation Park is splendid. Of course, I am also the type person that would probably like the caves that Ocean Boy keeps referring to. :) I'm not so much for shopping (much to my husband's delight).

My only question about Week 2 - did Nick win the Belly Flop contest this week ???

Hello from sunny and gorgeous Barbados!!!!! We are docked with several other ships, none of which I recognize? There is a P&O ship next to us.....

I am typing this from the poolside bar at the Barbados Hilton, Needham's Point. We purchased a day pass prior to cruising from Island Marketing. The cost is $50 pp which includes lunch and a beverage. We have done this before and it is a great way to spend the day!! :)

We will enjoy the afternoon here before heading back to the Adventure....

Last night was the Quest and it was hilarious as usual. Interesting to note that the CD told the audience that cheating IS encouraged!!!????

For all of you DeDe lovers (she was the Concierge for many many years and now Front Desk Manager) she will be leaving the AOS and heading to the Brilliance in April.......not known yet if she will return to the AOS?

The current Concierge Sylvia is a delight - she has been very friendly and accommodating.

Tomorrow is our final sea day before returning to San Juan. By the time I am home, I will have been away a total of 17 nights......so although I adore cruising, I suspect I will be ready to sleep in my own bed!!!!

I will not speak of debarking. I still have 2 full days left and intend to enjoy every second!!!!

More later......

Thanks for following along!!!!

The reports continue to be great- thank you. Now, who is going to take over next week? I need something to get me through the next 4 weeks.

I'm also loving the Robyn/Ocean Boy back and forth- for some reason I'm getting flashbacks to Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon...

Enjoy your last couple of days on board and safe travels Sunday!

Because they have closed the thread "For all those that have booked or are going to book the AOS", I wanted to thank Robyn for starting that most informational and helpful thread. Robyn, Many have not only enjoyed reading it but have learned a lot from your experience. Thanks again! :)

I bet this thread will last just as long....

Why did they close the thread? I don't think I would have dared to book on AOS without it, after having been terrified by some of the reviews I'd seen...and then I wouldn't be boarding in less than 30 days!!!!! (sorry, lost control a little bit there) ;)

Apparently long threads slow down the boards and they said it was one of the longest thread on the boards. Hopefully, if we can keep the new thread going people will see the link to the old information or we can direct people to it. But, it won't be quite the same any more.

Well, Adventure has departed Barbados and is cruising at 14.7 kts. making the journey back to San Juan. Tomorrow you should be able to see many of the islands by daylight that you could only see the lights of on the way down. If you are lucky, your captain will did what ours did on Serenade. He gave us a brief history of each island as we passed by. He also spent some time at Montserrat just off of the shore to give us a look at the volcano and the town that was buried. I do not know how much has been done to restore the town, if anything. It was amazing to see.

Independence is on its way to Ft. Lauderdale and that ship and I have a date for tomorrow. Since I still have a fair amount to do to get ready this might be my last post to the thread tonight. So if I don't get back on here tonight, enjoy your two nights and your upcoming sea day. And have a safe trip home. This thread has been fun. When I get back I'll look forward to seeing how this thread has progressed.

I am actually okay with the thread being closed. I believe it has definitely served it's purpose and it has been running consistently for 7 years!!! :p

There are now so many of us that love our AOS - we can simply respond to questions as they arise.

CHEERS to everyone that kept the thread alive for so many years!!! WE did a great job!!!! :D

Our Captain barely speaks to us!!! So no, there was no commentary.

The ship feels like it is moving faster than 14 knots......or maybe it's the rolling that is getting to me? LOL

Good evening from the beautiful Adventure of the Seas :)

Tonight was our 2nd and final formal night dinner. For all you lobster lovers out there, I have to say that there has been huge improvement in the seafood onboard. The new menus have a lot of seafood to choose from, and the lobsters are much bigger and tastier than they were before. Dessert was a fan favorite - baked alaska, and it was also very good.

I was just in the Concierge Lounge chatting with Sylvia and she is leaving next week for the Splendor :( I have enjoyed getting to know her and wish her well on her new ship!!!

Tonight is the ice show and a headliner show - I will probably go to the headliner show and then the casino since it is non-smoking night! I have had some luck this week.....the life of luxury slot machines have been paying quite nicely :p

My plan for tomorrow is to relax and just enjoy a day at sea. I think I may try lunch in the MDR for the Tutti Salad Bar....

Thanks for following along....more tomorrow!!!
