Yes you must wait 5 minutes that counts for alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks even soda

I've been told that the 5 minutes doesn't matter for soda? My friend said she would order a corona and a root beer at the same time and it was delivered, no issue.

Still confused. If I order a bottle of wine at dinner is that counted as part of my 15 drinks?

No, you get a 25% discount on the bottle but it doesn't count towards the 15 drink limit!

Tip of the day. What one person experiences does not make it policy for others. Below is the program for those who care to read. If you know you're going to spend more than $50/day then buy otherwise don't . Please don't try to cheat the system it only makes you look cheap.

CHEERS! Beverage Program

CHEERS! is now offered on ALL ships with the exception of the Carnival Ecstasy, Carnival Imagination, Carnival Inspiration, Carnival Sensation and Carnival Spirit.

Under the CHEERS! Beverage Program, guests can enjoy a wide variety of wine, beer and spirits, along with sodas and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails throughout the voyage at one convenient, flat rate. The cost for this program is $49.95 per person, per day ($42.95 on cruises in Europe), plus a 15% gratuity added on at the time of purchase of the program.

Note: This program is not offered on 2-day cruises, charter cruises and at Half Moon Cay and Little Stirrup Cay.

I think it will be hard to drink 15 drinks for days in ports and that's when I think the cheers program would not be worth it. Sailing from Texas we already have to purchase drinks the first night, card would be used for the next day, then the following three days would be in port off ship most of the day and then on ship for one whole day and night, with this program you have to take it the whole time you cannot say I want it just for the first and last days? Right?

Wrong wrong wrong. I was in a large group and we each almost hit 15 daily. And were not drunk either. 24 hours on vacation is a long time for only 15 drinks. Do the math :)

Try drinking 15 Foster's a day ;) or 15 Long Island's !

Although nobody said you can drink 15 of every drink imaginable, you can drink 15 in a day easily, including the two you mentioned. Can you not drink 1 drink an hour ?

Easily I can drink one per hour but 15 Foster's is 31 twelve ounce beers and the Long Islands have multiple shots per drink also. Yes, if you drink the cheaper drinks like Coor's light you could max out without getting too drunk. But 15 drinks a day is plenty if you get the right kind :D! IF the Long Island's are properly made you won't be drinking 15 of them in a day.

I agree 15 a day is plenty, and I know what a Long Island is, which I think are disgusting on the ship. If there is one drink that would be hard to drink 15 it would be a martini, IMO

Martini's give you a good bang for the buck for sure :D! I usually just get a bucket of Foster's here and there and drink some of my ill gotten smuggled booze also. I don't drink enough to buy cheers, that is too many days for my liver ;).

I am getting cheers in April. I am not a big drinker and will never meet the 15 max.But I plan on a mimosa in the morning,2 or 3 margaritas, maybe something else in the afternoon,a glass of wine with dinner, and a couple of martinis in the evening.I should break even. Then I can also try stuff I normally wouldn't and if I don't like it,no big deal.

An average day on the Freedom in March...(sea day I am talking about here)

Wake up go to the bar Get a Dirty Banana

Have another Dirty Banana

Time to move onto the Crown and Ginger

Another Crown and Ginger

One more. It is now 1pm. I am already 5 drinks in....

Time for a few Fire balls here and there and mixed in with a C and Ginger or a Dirty Banana....I am now at 11 drinks before dinner starts.... you imagine where it goes from there.

Wait, why are the Long Islands disgusting on the ship? I usually really like Long Island's but now I'm worried.

Lol, well that's just my opinion, don't let that discourage you from getting one and trying it, you may like it. And like anything else, some ships and or bartenders may be better. I do like Long Islands

They don't do anything dumb like use a mix or anything, right? Generally, as long as they don't use a mix, I think they are good enough to drink a few. But if they use a mix it's a no go for sure.

I'm not 100% sure, I've tried them a few times but always at dinner, so I never watched them make it, and it never got better. I don't think it tastes like a normal LI tho so I wouldn't doubt it's a mix.

 I'll give it a shot, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Not like there won't be anything else to drink.

We took advantage of the cheers program on the Dream in mar 2013. It was perfect for my partner and I. I hit the 15 max 1 day on the 7day cruise. The other days what ever we had left at the end of the night we would get unopened beers. During port days we would take the unopened beers with us, in a collapsible cooler into port. Saved us some money while in port!

We plan to do the cheers package again when we go on the fantasy in April.

BTW I loved the long islands and that will be my first drink, while I'm signing up for the program as soon as we get on the ship!

Phew. I was getting seriously worried over hear. ;) You know, because a little more than 24 hours away from sail away there is nothing else to worry about at all (getting to the airport, plane being on time, getting our luggage all in one piece, kids being left behind with grandpa... LOL) I gotta focus on the little things or the big ones will overwhelm me!
