disneykins Posted March 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2013 how difficult would it be to take the Metro from University of Miami to Miami airport and then the tri rail to FLL? Fare would only be about $6 each as opposed to $40 each on SAS. We would have luggage. Or is there a better way? Tony
gelo7 Posted March 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2013 It's not difficult at all. SAS is the better way, but it's not the cheapest way.

Tony The metrorail doesn't actually go directly to MIA, but rather to a transfer station near MIA. You will then need to transfer to the Tri-Rail to go to Fort Lauderdale. The Fort Lauderdale Tri-Rail station is not near the FLL airport, so from there, you would need to take a taxi to FLL airport and it would be approximately a $20 - $25 fare to the airport. So factor in taxi fare on top of the metro/tri-rail, but it is still cheaper than SAS.

BlueHerons Posted September 23, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2013 It's not difficult at all. . WHAT?!? What a nightmare this trip would be. Firstly, does SAS actually go to Coral Gables? Secondly, the metromover nor the Tri Rail are set up for luggage and there is no one to help you. Also, you'll have to schlep your luggage up and down lots of steps. This trip would literally take you six hours if you are lucky.
zoncom Posted September 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 24, 2013 SAS is FTL company, cannot always do Miami pickups. If you can get to Biscayne Blvd. downtown, do Ride 95 Bus which goes all the way to FTL with few stops.{seen it pickup near 15th/ Biscayne.) Big articulated new buses w. luggage racks. $2.35!
