I need new friends

I agree. We had friends that were all gaga about cruising, agreed to go(no deposit from them to cruise line), gave them the itinerary. Newbies they are, anyway, we gave them the CC site so they could get comfortable. They turn around and ask us if there is a way we can change the itinerary to suit them as they don't want to do an 8 day. We attempt to find some and mostly are Bermuda. Makes no sense for us money wise to do a trip like this. So they're not going and we are! Tough tomatoes. We are gonna have fun!

I agree! I hope carnival builds studio rooms like NCL on day. I only live a few hours from Galveston so I could cruise a lot more! I offered my friend to just pay the 3rd person far ($360) to come with me on the breeze and she could not afford it. I am already paying full price for me and my toddler and you can't come up with $360?

I live near New Orleans so I am always jumping on a ship. I don't mind flying to another port. Plan to do the Breeze also.

I know, everyone has excuses. I am addicted to crusing so I'll go alone.

I am about to go on my 4th cruise, and I have never been on one where I only covered my share of the expenses. I've always had someone else to pay for so splitting expenses with another solo traveler would be great! :D

I have a kid and a husband. DH hates to cruise so he stays home with the kiddo. All my friends always claim they are broke and can't afford to go on a cruise. This time I am dragging my mother along. Next time I am just getting a single room on the Epic. I don't cruise as often as I would like b/c DH hates it. I vowed life is too short and I am going to start going every year now, by myself.

Good for you. My DH loves to cruise...we discovered cruising a little late in our lives...after our kids were grown, but we are trying to make up for it now. Cruise every year. Our thing that holds us back is flying from Montana. Please report back how you like the Epic solo cabins. My daughter is looking in to those since she has trouble finding friends to cruise with too.

We have an "UNLIMITED OPEN BAR" cruise for 8 days leaving June 1st, out of Fort Lauderdale and need at least 4 adults to complete our group. We will be visiting Aruba, Dominican Republic, Curacao, and Grand Turk. All of your alcohol, water, soda, and juices are included and is unlimited. The price also includes all of your tips and gratuities. Children are welcome as we already have 12 of them going with us. The adult age ranges are from 21 to 66 with most of us being in our 40's and the children range from 4 to 19, with most of the being teens.

I'll bet plans have already been made. But have you thought about trying another cruise line or a smaller ship? My husband will go on any cruise I choose just about, but he does show preference for which cruise line. Although I get that some people are just not cut out for cruising.

I know the feeling. Probably all but one of my cruises I paid for both people in the cabin. I am even paying for 5 cabins on our upcoming May family cruise.

I want to try NCL Epic but airfare eats up any savings so if the Epic ever came to Galveston I will try it out.

It's hard to find someone your comfortable with to cruise with if you don't know them. I have cruised several times alone after paying for two persons and the other person couldn't go. My bf won't cruise so I cruise with friends and family.

I don't think it will be the Epic, but NCL is coming to Houston!!!!!!! The Port of Houston has reopened. NCL and Princess both start in 2014.

I'm doing the same cruise in October, but out of Miami on the Breeze. It would have been cheaper out of FLL, but I wanted to be on the Breeze. Hve fun on your cruise!

Oh...I never thought about a singles cruise from the viewpoint of finding a mate. I was only looking for a roommate to share costs of the cabin.

But the more I think about it..sharing a cabin with a complete stranger could be a nightmare!

That's great! I am also in Middle TN. That makes it convenient to meet before deciding to cruise together.

Will be leaving for vacation next week, so April will be too soon for me to plan another. I would like to go on another one this year though. :D

deetrayn, I hope you have a fabulous cruise on Liberty next week! If you can figure out a way to swap info without posting here, let me know. I typically cruise more than once a year too. I like the fall after the rates drop and I also like to cruise at Christmas time.

Hello, Van Buren Girl...I'm just a wee bit down the road from you in Muskogee. I know how frustrating it can be to have the want and means to travel when none of your friends and family can join you. I once took a cruise with a lady that worked at my dad's bank. I talked to her before we booked the cruise, but didn't meet her until we were on our way to Galveston to catch the ship. She ended up being a wonderful and considerate roomate.

And I'm another TN girl that could use a cruising buddy. Only problem is, I like to sleep with the TV on low. :-) I could share my Platinum perks with a roomie like early embarkation though. I'm Middle TN and use BNA airport. Looking at late April CCL cruise......

Well I am not from TN and I have two roommates right now (DH and DD), but our Conquest cruise that leaves April 21 will be fun. We have a relatively decent roll call. You should go on that one. :D

Thanks for the invite cruzinlisa. I just checked my casino rate offers at Carnival for the Conquest on 4-21 and the only offer showing is for a suite which is pretty expensive this close in to sail date. Even inside cabins regular single rate show >$1k. The ship must be pretty close to full since I don't any decent deals out there.

I hope you have an enjoyable cruise!

After cruising with my family every time prior, I just booked a girls cruise for myself and 4 other ladies..split in 2 cabins for Oct. It is SO much more affordable to go when I don't have to drag the family of 3 along with me! I am definitely going to look into more options for girls/solo cruising.

I believe that is the same one I have booked for now-Breeze-Oct 26.

I prefer the Dream class ships over the Conquest class ships so booked the Breeze. It is rather pricey, especially as a solo.

Sunset Sand!!! Yes, we're on the same cruise. Are you on the roll call? If not, you should join. I'm doing my first solo on my birthday. The Breeze sailing is a belated birthday gift to my mom. We could have gone during her birthday with a different itinerary or did the same one as Breeze, but earlier than her birthday...I opted for the later date so we could be on the Breeze.

Are you doing the Blogger's cruise? I'm doing it as a solo. The price is $500-$600 more than I'd pay if I had a roommate. But I may begin to like the idea of traveling alone.

I have to agree - I was thinking about trying to find someone to share my cabin as I am going alone for my very first cruise so it will all be very new to me. However, I snore horribly due to a deviated septum. My kids laugh at it but if you aren't a sound sleeper i definitely would not want to subject anyone to having to listen to me at night especially in such close quarters... and I will have to probably apologize to whomever is in the neighboring cabin as I've been told that the walls are a bit thin.

I have this cruise booked as well as the Conquest on Oct. 27. I realize I will have to move one of them. This may be my milestone cruise and would rather utilize the 25% onboard credit on the more pricey cruise-therefore the Breeze.

I have not joined the roll call yet since I am not sure which one I am going to keep. I know I want to be on a Carnival ship for Halloween.

Blogger's cruise?????? Not sure I understand.
