RIGUY40 Posted March 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2013 Already booked an eight day cruise out of NYC. Two couples but wife's don't need drink package. Is it possible to switch cabins, in order to have both men in same cabin. We both have separate bookings, can it be done? Any advice would help, thanks paul

RIGUY40 Posted March 11, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted March 11, 2013 Booked it about ten days ago. Thru carnival.

golfadj Posted March 11, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 11, 2013 Can you book cheers on board? If so after you board go to guest services and rearrange. Than go book cheers. Might get some strange looks at guest services though.
pj woods Posted March 11, 2013 #7 Share Posted March 11, 2013 I believe that there is no penalty for switching names in who is in who,s room. your not changing a name but just shuffling them around.
MrPete Posted March 11, 2013 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2013 I have to awake it goes back to the booking; not who's in what room. Many people are already doing this, booking the drinkers all in one room, and non drinkers in the other.
che5904 Posted March 11, 2013 #9 Share Posted March 11, 2013 OK, I'm not judging not do I care since the cheers package is too expensive for the amount DH and I drink. Something that should be kept in mind for those who do love and enjoy the thought of this package remaining available and cost effective (for those who do drink enough to warrant purchasing it). As far as I know this is still on a trial run. The more people that manipulate it or find loop holes. The less chance Carnival will continue to offer it or offer it around the cost it is now. So remember when you are trying to "work the system" you may also be "working over" your fellow passengers.

I also still don't plan to use it , as I still think it is wrong that they try to prohibit you from bringing it in, when you used to be able to freely bring it on. But to attempt to force a couple where one drinks and the other doesn't, just to make it cost effective for them is also wrong. It is absurdly overpriced to begin with. If I bring a bottle on, it costs me less than $20 and I don't finish it. Or I can spend $350 and let them serve it to me. It's a no brainer to me. Well I look at it this way, the day I can afford to purchase a cruiseline, then I can set whatever policies I like. Since that day is not now, I have to make some choices. Since I only have control over me and no one else. If a company is setting a policy that is IMO is morally compromising to me, I will not use that company. If it is setting policies that I like or don't like, then I can choose to use them or not. If they are offering additional a la carte options that allow me to choose, then I can choose or not choose which option I wish to spend my money on. Obviously Carnival's option is not logical to you, I get that. I can't say I see a lot of logic in it either. But I have chosen to cruise this time with Carnival because I can accept their policies whether I like them or not. DH and I always take a bottle with us on vacation to enjoy a drink at the end of the day in our room. With Carnival this is not allowed, I can accept that and have therefore budgetted to live within their policies. I had 2 choices for the vacation. Along with other reasons, one reason I chose Carnival over this other line, was the other line had a couple of policies that did not work for us. It's all about choices. Just don't why CCL's actions in '12 and '13 are making those choices easier to make to venture out to the competition. This "unlimited" drink program is anything but, along with the lies starting right in September, and admitted to sometime this year.

Sorry can't say, I'm not a beard LOL. But back on topic. As I stated I don't have a dog in this fight, but I have seen a lot of good programs (in some peoples eyes) pulled because of situations that the OP is suggesting. In one example NCL had a very nice offer to their Casino players, offering free drinks while playing in their casino to those that reached a certain level. Due to misuse, abuse and loop holes of that program, it has now been revamped, hurting a lot of players that did not abuse it or find loop holes. Hence my initial post on this thread. halos Posted March 11, 2013 #14 Share Posted March 11, 2013 I'm still trying to understand WHY they require all people in the cabin to participate or else forget it. Is there a solid reason for this??? It makes little sense to me, but maybe I am missing something?? I think NCL does this the same way. I may be wrong. I just don't get the reasoning behind it. Do the other lines that offer this require everyone in the cabin as well??
familycruzinnewbie Posted March 11, 2013 #15 Share Posted March 11, 2013 What could you bring on board that you can't anymore. I still have to figure out what to do about the drink tickets I bought with no expiry that they say will expire 2 months before my next cruise. That just means they have to be smarter than their clientele. They constantly show they are not. But it is THEY that are choosing to keep fares appear to be low, and then try to get the income elsewhere. When people add their fare, surcharges, and on board accounts together, then they can say whether fares are truly lower today than yesterday. The biggest scam is this OBC. Using this program alone, $350 in OBC can be eaten up with Cheers, and what did that cost them, at cost? How about FTTF which has NO cost.

As far as I can tell it is if only husband takes it and wife doesnt, husband will in many cases get drinks and give to wife, or vice versa. che5904 Posted March 11, 2013 #24 Share Posted March 11, 2013 And some people make choices to save money. When that choice is attempted to be snuffed, other choices become available. What I don't understand Mr. Pete, is if you really don't like the direction that Carnival is going. Why stick with them? Like you say "other choices become available", why not utilize them. It's perfectly natural that we don't like everything a company is doing and therefore will question or criticize decisions made but still overall like the product. And if you are just doing that, then I appologize, but it seems to be me, in the tone of your posts, it's more than that with you. Remember, this package offered is not forced on anyone, it's there if someone does feel it's reasonable and would like to enjoy it. I personally don't, but then I don't intend on spending my money on it.

What choices I make bears nothing on anyone but myself.
