Static events Posted March 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2013 Giovanni's Table replaces Portofino on the Independence of the Seas after its mini re-fit but is this a good thing? We have often enjoyed a meal in Portofino. Having said that I am personally looking forward to this change.

Sequim88 Posted March 11, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 11, 2013 We were very aprehensive on Mariner after it had Royal Advantage drydock immediately prior to our sailing and change the Portofino to Giovanni's Table. We were HUGE fans of the seafood skewer at Protofino and also were worried about change atmosphere for GT. We were very pleasantly surprised and the food was as good or better than Portofino as was the service. I think a little more relaxed atmosphere but still elegant and well decorated. We liked so much we went twice (on 15nt TA). The Ciopino was an OK substitue for the skewer and the Osso Bucco was amazing (lots of marrow to spread on bread). The dessert tray was huge and they kept saying if you can't decide take two.. or three... or four:eek:.

I always thought Portofino was good, but GT is now my favorite specialty restaurant. Plus, they are open for lunch at a reduced price.
