Once you get your flight arrangements you have the option of rejecting them and booking on your own with a credit for the air not taken. You can also have your TA talk to Oceania and find out if there are alternative routes. (Do your homework first so you know what you could book on your own.) They will either reject or accept your suggestion/request or quote a price difference. We usually book on our own as we like to go in a day or two early to make sure we are on the ship and not delayed in flight by weather, etc. If you have a good TA they should be used to doing this. That being said, it gives great piece of mind to arrive at least one day ahead of time. Spending a night in Athens would give you some rest and let you enjoy your cruise. This in itself can justify the deviation fee, which then lets you choose your flights. We recently did this, and chose Premium economy flights on British Airways for a modest $600 upgrade fee. We've done the Black Sea route, and it is wonderful. Do try to plan some extra days in Istanbul post-cruise--a truly enchanting city. Hi Wendy, I was sure they would get all of that info plus more when they asked about a deviation..sounds like you are all set for your cruise I know you will love it..
