The Celebrity Today lists movies shown in public venues.

Movies that are "on demand" on your stateroom tv are listed on one of the TV channels.

Unless you can correspond with someone on the cruise preceding yours, it's probably not going to be possible to find out what was scheduled on the "on demand" system, and even then, it is very likely that the offerings would change from one cruise to the next.

Thanks to all–the problem is, we will be flying from the UK (with movies on-the- Flight), then staying in hotels in the States from week or so .. more movies?

So I was just trying to plan ahead .. to make sure that by the time we get on board, my wife and I haven't seen all of the new releases–especially the free ones! that are available to view, in your own cabin, any time you choose.

It really is a fantastic service, and on a transatlantic sailing such as the one we're doing, real pleasure to spend a lazy afternoon watching the movie of your choice.. and even pausing it until the next day if you choose!..

On a separate (slightly related) topic .. for a British soccer fan such as me–what possibility of soccer games in the bars/casino areas .. ESPN/FOX are now into British soccer in a big way, and as we approach the climax of the season there will be some really big games .. it would be great to be able to watch them on the cruise! .. again thanks to all for replies

I don't know if the movies are common over the entire fleet, but just got of the Solstice (currently in Australia) and I certainly remember on the On Demand free to air there being;

Rock of Ages;

Prometheus;

Unfortunately I can't remember any more...I know there were a few comedies but don't ask me the names as I know I haven't seen them.

I do not remember one tv on in a public area showing tv, least of all sport.

There was Fox Sports Australia on the cabin tv's (in fact all the channels apart from the ships own were Australian cable channels while within Australian waters then they changed) while we were in Australian waters but when we moved far off shore and over to New Zealand it was replaced by ESPN (I'm not sure which version or from which country as I didn't watch it).

  • 3 weeks later...
Boarding Equinox on Monday....bringing lots of books but curious as to what the free in-room movies are. Anyone know?

Guessing they're the same on all S-class so any input from recent cruisers of those ships would be great. :)

Also -

Skyfall (qlso shown in the theatre one night)

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift

Man with the Iron Fist

on Eclipse 22/03 - 06/04

One good thing is that they do change the schedule of the movies on demand.

1 For the standard tv stations they are repeated.

2. For the commercial free, they add a number of movies during the trip.

Do not spend all your time because a movie is on the Tv, enjoy the ship, you cannot get back on the ship, but you can always get that movie to rent;)

Movie I remember was Cabin in the woods, if it is still playing, then it is old.

To me this just encapsulates why we prefer Celebrity and will stay loyal. I recall a cruise we took on NCL where they had a giant TV screen on the wall of the lobby which was blaring CNN all day. Hemorroid cream and ****** commercials. And everybody seemed to act as if that was perfectly OK. :confused:

And then there's Princess and their giant screens above the pool area :eek:

I agree with the poster that it's nice to relax in your cabin and watch a movie together one afternoon; just PLEASE don't blare TV in public areas!
