Sensation or Ecstasy

They are both the same class ships and have the same features. The Sensation is two years newer than the Ecstasy, but they both went through major renovations a few years ago. The only other difference besides age between the ships would be decor.

We have sailed on both as part of back-to-back cruises in December 2012. We had a 5-day cruise on the Ecstasy and a 4-day cruise on the Sensation. We enjoyed the Ecstasy better. We found the crew and fellow cruisers to be friendlier on the Ecstasy.

I have sailed both recently, and I agree, the crew on the Ecstasy is friendlier. If you enjoy mixed drinks, there is a bartender on the Ecstasy at the Casino bar who gives a very generous pour. His name is Catalin and you can't miss him, he is about 6' 4" and bald. A super nice guy.

I haven't been on the Ecstasy, but have sailed on the Sensation 3 times. I am planning another cruise with her in July. The ports of call are different, but what made my decision is the price. The Sensation was cheaper for the time we wanted to cruise. If you don't have a preference on ports of call, and the price is the same, then it sounds like the other posters prefer the Ecstasy. IF price is different and ports aren't an issue, I would go with the less expensive, since the staff, food, decor, etc. are still great on the Sensation. I love that ship!

We've sailed both...the Sensation seven times and our last cruise in January was on The Ecstasy. Always enjoy The Sensation, but loved The Ecstasy!

The Ecstasy will be moving to Miami later this year...so if you want to cruise out of Pt Canaveral, I would certainly choose The Ecstasy.:)

Im planning a short cruise for some first time cruisers. Anybody that has sailed both which did you prefer?

I've sailed the Carnival Sensation in November, trip report located HERE and sailed the Carnival Ecstasy in December, trip report located HERE.

Out of those two cruises, that were taken relatively close to each other I much preferred the Carnival Ecstasy. Whilst the ships are basically the same being a Fantasy class ship, the crew and the experience in my opinion was better on the Carnival Ecstasy during those time periods!

Both ships I've sailed on twice.

Have a great cruise in whichever ship you decide!

Not meaning to go off topic, but you mentioned in your Sensstion live report that VIP has the same early room availability -- is that true? We have a grand suite booked on the Sensation and would live to spend that $50 on DotD vs FTTF. :)

If you are Platinum, yes. You get the same benefits as Faster to the Fun program and as soon as you board the ship go to the hallway to your cabin and you'll see the sign like the one I posted in both my reviews and be able to open the doors and go right to your cabin. :)

If you're meaning VIP as in suite perks, I'm not sure if the same applies, I believe it does though, but don't quote me on that.
