MORE things Splendor ... NY style!

A towel, or sandle, or book, etc occupying an otherwise empty chair, usually in a prime location.

Or more accurately the owner of said item.

Will end up right in the pool.

I hate chair hogs and lounger hogs on holidays.

If I see something sitting for an hour or so then I usually say something to a member of staff or just take action myself.

Not be the 1st time I have flung a book into the pool

If these people want to be selfish then let them pay a price for it.

Sam Houston - it was quite awhile ago! He loved Scotland. We wanted to go when we were in England awhile back, but we had also scheduled a trip to the Netherlands and we couldn't manage both.

I meant he was stationed on the USS Simon Lake. Or maybe The Hunley?

IIRC they use Pier 88 and Pier 90. If there are 4 ships, there will probably be 2 at each. There may be another pier, but I think only 88 and 90 have been recently renovated. I think they set Pier 90 up to handle the larger ships. The Breakway will definitely be at that pier.

They move people through fairly quick, but that's a lot of people - yikes. I've been there with 3, but it was the Miracle (or Legend), the Dawn and the Victory. Didn't seem too hectic, but IDK with the Splendor AND the Breakaway.

Watched you tube video of Splendor coming in on Monday, she went into pier 88

Cool - on our last cruise, there was a sign at the entrance from the elevators saying to come back at 1:30. We had gone straight up to the Lido with our luggage, but my sister went down to check on the rooms. Ours was ready before 1:30 but not right away.

This time we want to get on line at the Shore Excursion desk to sign up for the Behind the Fun tour, so my DH and I will probably do that and send my sister down to check on the room again! ;)

I thought they did the Punchliner on sea days - did they not do it every day or did you eat in the MDR on a port day?

Your right Kat, punchliner on sea days reg breakfast in MDR only on port days

Are they charging for cappuccinos and espressos in the MDR now on Splendor? (Sorry if this has been brought up in this thread, I did several thread searches and didn't find anything!) I know some other ships have started doing that but it hasn't been confirmed on all ships.

I don't know since we don't drink it, thus didn't ask.

Did you go to the Piano bar when you were on the Splendor? If so how was the entertainment there??

Sorry, we did not. We did go to the comedy club twice and it was a blast.

Yes we plan to go during the kids spring / easter break again next year. Nyc is convenient for us and the ports are different than this years. Will include Grand Turk and HMC which we love both.

Yes, I spend a few hours a day playing poker on board. Its fun and as the week goes on there becomes a group of "regulars" that play and we get to know each other well and become friends.

My husband and I love to play holdem, the last time we played on a cruise we didnt stay long because it was way over our head. It wasnt a friendly game they started raising $100, we dont mind playing $2-$4 but when it gets crazy its not fun anymore. We always wanted to go on a poker cruise. Once we played on a cruise and met a wonderful group of people from Brooklyn played every night with them. We're from Niagara Falls area and am glad we only have a short flight to NYC. How old are your children?

I am also going to be on the splendor on May 17th. hope to see you around. Is Malcolm the cruise director

I think Malcolm is going on vacation as of 5/1 - I'm not sure when he's coming back. There is a schedule posted on John Heald's Blog but it's a bit confusing because there are two CDs listed at the same time. The other - Tex - is subbing for Malcolm.

Does anyone have any menus? How about funtimes?

You can find current menus (and awesome food porn :D ) here http://zydecocruiser.net/CarnivalConquest2012/menus/mdr_dinner.html

They are pretty much the same menus fleet wide. We're still waiting for some recent cruisers to post fun times ... you promised :( - and we are all waiting with bated breath! We just want to bask vicariously in the fun until it's our turn!

Has anyone done the Behind the Fun tour on the Splendor, recently? What did it cost, how long did it take and What kind of goodies did you get?

We want to do this on our June cruise and I'd like to know what to expect. Oh - also did it sell out quickly? We know to go to the Shore Excursion desk as soon as we get on - which should be pretty fast because my sister is Platinum, so we will get Priority Boarding.

Thanks to all who have shared your impressions! I'm so glad to hear some positive ones! I'm really looking forward to this cruise! 2 months ONE day - getting close!

Another question for the Splendor experienced ... What is the best way to get from the atrium/lobby to the aft part of the ship. We have an aft wrap on deck 6. I've been looking at the deck plans, and it seems like the galley gets in the way. I see there are 2 outside decks one on the Lobby deck and one on the Atlantic deck. Can you use either one of those to get from mid ship to aft?

I'm thinking of embarkation. Should we just take the elevators from the lobby up to deck 6 and walk down that long hallway? Looks like we are going to have to

Take the elevators on Deck 3, Atrium, to deck 6 and walk back to your cabin. Or go to deck 5 and go aft and take the elevator to 6. Decks 3-4 don't go through.
