Hawaiidan Posted April 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2013 Booked on Marina Papeete to Sydney.Feb 2014 Has anyone been on the Sauala Island Boat tour in Fiji and the Amedee Island tour in Noumea. We only want to do one, which one would you recommend. While I have not done these specific tours I have been to both places. Fiji has the most remarkable and coral rich/life filled Ocean, Noumea, is in a different environment and more of an industrial area for mining. When last there they had a problem with stonefish... Fiji has hands down far better shorkeling Diving than Tahiti or the Cooks and people English speaking vs French.
Wendy The Wanderer Posted April 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2013 Perhaps it's worth mentioning here that the stonefish is deadly, and make water shoes mandatory.
potterhill Posted April 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2013 Last year we did an outstanding private snorkelling tour with Aquanature in Noumea, New Caledonia. Not sure if you just want to know about O tours but this is one we did that was great, so I thought I would share. We did a half day because our group didn't commit soon enough and another group booked the afternoon. Initially we were disappointed but, when out time was up we were all exhausted. The rest of the day would have not been utilized fully to be sure. We went out on the boat and he supplied wet suits and masks etc if you didn't have your own. We swam in small groups of 3-4, each with a guide so no one got lost/ left behind. As I recall we anchored in two spots, but I could be wrong on that. His dock is about a 10 minute walk from where the ship docks so we just met on the ship and walked over. I think it might have been $60USD/ person, but not sure. An outstanding day!
