wrp96 Posted April 18, 2013 Author #52 Share Posted April 18, 2013 Heard that people with cruise transfers were held at airport and are still waiting to be bussed over. Somehow don't think sail away will be at 4:30;). But I'm on the ship so it no longer matters.:D
Rare printingchick Posted April 18, 2013 #53 Share Posted April 18, 2013 The ship can make-up time. I had a 10-hour fog delay out of Galveston once and we hit our first port only ONE HOUR behind schedule. We were throwing quite the wake for a big ship, but we made up oodles of time!! Have a good one!
jaspercat Posted April 18, 2013 #54 Share Posted April 18, 2013 First person onboard at 2:35:D. In WJ now Wow Wrona -- what a way to start your cruise. Have a great time!
JWBmom Posted April 18, 2013 #55 Share Posted April 18, 2013 Does anyone know if the dogs alert ONLY to explosives, or do they alert to drugs as well? Clearly they are assuming this is the former, rather than the latter. No need to clear the area for smuggled drugs! Keep us posted!!! So good to have this forum to get the REAL SCOOP!!! :) Typically the dogs are trained to alert to something specific- either drugs or explosives not both

cruiseluvingirl Posted April 19, 2013 #66 Share Posted April 19, 2013 We just got off the Jewel this morning, so I was shocked when we got home and heard of this news. Glad everything worked out and everyone is safe. Very scary with all the other events that are happening in this country now.
wrp96 Posted April 22, 2013 Author #67 Share Posted April 22, 2013 So back to update. We did not meet a single person who complained about the way it was handled. In fact most people took it as an opportunity to make new friends wherever you were stuck - airport, hotel, hooters - you boarded already friends with your cruise mates so the awkward first intros weren't needed. Just in case, we all did our best to drink up the alcohol supplies so no repeats could happen.;) And just to add Jewel has the best crew in the fleet.
