Corking fee for wine at Main Dining Room

On the Splendor last week, we bought the deluxe, 5 bottle wine package, which we drank in the dining room. As well we also brought our own bottles that we brought from home (we were four wine lovers!) We were charged a corkage fee for each of our bottles despite the fact that we also were drinking purchased wine. We have never been charged in the past, the fee has always been waved. New, stricter policy?

BTW, I am not sure what the fee was, but $10 sounds right.

p.s It was worth every last delicious drop!:D

Should not have been charged corkage. Should have told whoever wanted you to pay it that you purchased the wine from Carnival.

if you only consume half the bottle of your own wine and you'd like the rest served the next night, you will likely be charged, especially if it isn't a wine from their wine list. The waiter will need to explain where the odd bottle came from.

$10 is a great deal for a corkage charge. Most other lines are considerably more than that.

I was charged AND reminded, "Don't forget your wine!" before we left. At least on the last cruise they kept it for us for another night.

Suppose you open your own bottle, in your cabin, but just bring the bottle with you to the dinning room. (Cork just in place to prevent spilling). Will they charge you if you pour it into the dining room glasses?

Yup, that was the exact scenario that happened to us.

They could. The term corkage has little to do with removing the cork.
