Gastrointestinal illness on Century

We are waiting to board The Century but just got a notice from Celebrity that boarding will be delayed due to deep cleaning. The notice states that some guests had gastrointestinal illness on the previous cruise. Well worth the wait.

I agree. Well worth the weight for them to clean and clean.

We were with the first 10-12 guests on board about 12:15....not bad at all.

We just got off this morning. The captain mentioned hand washing with his morning address and we saw entertainment staff wiping down stair railings. Otherwise we saw no indication of a problem.

 

We never went to "Code Red" where there is no self-service food or drink. We had friends who are on a B2B and Celebrity sent them on a San Diego tour so the ship would be empty for the deep cleaning.

 

Better safe than sorry!

We had the same experience on our last cruise on the Infinity. Boarding was delayed for hours. When we were finally allowed to board, we were very limited in where we could go. Crowds everywhere. It was not a pleasant experience. It seems that there have been several ships that have had outbreaks of norovirus recently. This should not happen.

You are so right...it should not happen. Having said that, it is up to the passengers. Nora happens when passengers board sick and/or do not practice good hygiene. Same with the crew, especially those who handle the food. I'm sorry for those who have had to deal with it in some form.
