cruising in Posted April 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2013 We're trying to decide between the Coral and the Island Princess for a July 2014 sailing. What if anything is the difference between the two ships?
Putterdude Posted April 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2013 Nothing, they are sister ships.
CruiserBruce Posted April 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2013 And you can find out everything you need to know about them on the Princess board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
AKman2495 Posted April 27, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2013 Basically, the Coral and Island are sisters. But, the Coral has been upgraded recently to add an International Cafe and has upgraded the buffet. He Island is scheduled for these improvements, but I am not sure when they will be making them. So, at this point, I would go with the Coral.

What if anything is the difference between the two ships? I am also trying to decide on 2014 cruise! I posted something Princess board and here's what I found out, I think: the Coral has gotten a few upgrades that Island does not have. Also Coral leaves on Saturday, while Island leaves on Wednesday. Sorry I can't copy/paste from my IPad but if you search my posts there is a short thread about Princess/Alaska.
CleoV Posted April 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 30, 2013 Coral does have some nice upgrades. We just sailed on her a few months ago (Panama Canal) and I absolutely loved her. Wonderful ship, and very steady. But I wouldn't say no to Island either.
KruzPrincess Posted April 30, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 30, 2013 Both are great ships. I'm sailing the Island in October for a Panama Canal cruise. I just booked the Coral for Alaska in July. I chose the Coral because she just had the dry dock updates. At dry dock, they added a small International Café, made the casino smaller, added some new cabins and updated the Horizon Court buffet area. Also, normal updates to carpeting and clean-up. Both are great ships. The Island was scheduled for dry dock in October, but it's been postponed. I don't know when they dry dock will happen.
