sept10dsm Posted July 7, 2013 #454 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Just wondering what decks and how to access the public balconies I read about in an Island Princess thread. Thanks!
Astro Flyer Posted July 7, 2013 #455 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Just wondering what decks and how to access the public balconies I read about in an Island Princess thread. Thanks! As I recall it's Baja (11) & Caribe (10) through the doors to the forward viewing deck area if that's what you're calling the 'public balconies'. rdsqrl Posted July 7, 2013 #457 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Just wondering what decks and how to access the public balconies I read about in an Island Princess thread. Thanks! There are also public decks aft on Emerald, Dolphin, Caribe, and Baja. To access the aft ones, just walk all the way back -- along either port or starboard corridors -- and you'll see the door at the end of the hall (I think it has a window in it, so it's pretty obvious it's an outside door). To access the forward decks on Baja and Caribe, walk all the way forward til you get to a plain closed door. Open it, and pass through a very small foyer-ish space to a wooden door; open that and step outside.
Astro Flyer Posted July 7, 2013 #458 Share Posted July 7, 2013 (edited) Thanks. That was how they were referred to in another thread. So are they easy to find or 'secret'? It's been over a year since I was on the Island but I'll soon be on the Coral & will definitely know the wording on the door...it's something like "crew only" but many passengers go there & the crew knows it. ;) The bridge looks down on this area & there's never been any problems. Cruisin Oma Posted July 7, 2013 #459 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Does anyone know if you can still get a deck of cards with all the Martini recipes they serve at Crooners? I can't remember if I got it free or if I bought it in the gift shop.

I do not think it says "crew only." I believe it only says something about limited access in certain weather. Someone posted a photo at one time, but I don't recall the wording. And I certainly don't recall a "crew only" notice from personal experience -- I doubt I would have gone out there if I had seen such a sign, as I wouldn't have relied on chat from these boards as my only rationale for violating such a prohibition. I can't remember if I got it free or if I bought it in the gift shop. I've never heard of the deck of cards but now that I have I want one. Love Crooners selection of olives. On our last cruise we met a group of people at Crooners and we gathered there every night before dinner. Edited July 7, 2013 by Kentskie

SnowDiamonds Posted July 7, 2013 #475 Share Posted July 7, 2013 We have been in balcony and minis but have only ever seen the waffle weave robes. We are Platinum. I don't know if you need a suite, to be elite, or just a special guest of theirs to get the fluffy ones you see in the brochures. Maybe someone will tell us both what the secret is to getting the better robes. As to what the coupon books are really good for. . . lead me to think about our last cruise. I got a silly cold and had to resort to the tissues they provide. BRING YOUR FAVORITE TISSUES WITH YOU!!!! The ones on the ship don't even get you through the first blow! Goes right through the crunchy paper passed off as tissues! I always carry the small individual packs with me but just had not brought enough for a cold too! Now I know better! Happy cruising. I've only ever seen the waffle robes too. And that's what they sell in the gift shop. If there were fluffier ones you would think they would be available for purchase in the gift shop.
