RCI bus transfer's at Rome airport

Recommended Posts

Does any one know from experience how RCI does the transfers? If there are 2/3 flights getting in all with in say an hour or so of each other do they wait and just take one bus load to the dock or do individual shuttles for each set of people?

Have people on our roll call flying from a different UK airport landing about 30 - 45 mins ish before us and was wondering if it was common for every one to share the same transfer?

Thanks

Usually there are individual shuttles for each set of arrivals. The last time, we were collected and away within 20 minutes of arrival. Bear in mind there will probably be hundreds arriving that way on embarkation day, so there will be a fleet of coaches available...you wont have to wait until one is filled up, or wait for another flight arriving.

Thanks :) Was rather hoping we would be on the same bus , saving trying to find them on a full ship later. :)

On the other hand leaving the airport 20 mins after arrival sounds excellent :) I do hope it runs that smooth for us :)

We booked their air one time which included transfers to the port. Most overseas flights arrive early in the morning. We found the rep who was outside the arrival hall. We waited until the bus was full. It was a bus. I don't think it was an extremely long wait--maybe an hour at most. Since it would be awhile before we could board the ship, we got a bus tour of Barcelona to keep us busy which was nice. We arrived at the ship around 11:00 and boarded shortly thereafter.

When we did Navigator out of Rome the RCI rep had us waiting till a bus load was together and away we went.

Probably no more than 20 minutes or so standing in a group. It seemed well enough organised.

There are loads of people flying in to board the ship and a bus probably holds 45 or 50 people at most. This does not take long to fill a bus.

Thanks for the info, sorry another question.. How long does it take to get from the Airport to the ship?

It takes around 90 minutes to go from FCO to Civitavecchia.

Hi there

We flew in to Rome on 12th May from Birmingham, UK and had flights and transfer booked with RCI. We got off the flight and headed for our luggage in the set area - there were 2 RCI reps near the luggage telling you where to put it once you had it (they ticked you on a list) and you got luggage labels for your stateroom if you needed one. Then another rep walked you to the exit of the terminal building where another rep walked you to the bus. There were quite a few buses in the bays for RCI and you were given a specific bus to get on - they checked you again as you got on.

The luggage took a while to arrive from the flight but otherwise the whole process was very organised. Once on the bus it was approx 50 mins to the cruise terminal. I would use the RCI transfer again for Rome.

Thanks for such detailed info :) Makes it all so much more real for us :) less than two weeks to go :D

Just be prepared for a what could be a lengthy wait for your luggage. It took us nearly an hour last year (September) and the terminal wasn't that well air conditioned. We'd been warned about this before flying out so were prepared in what we chose to wear that day.

Ran like clockwork, there was a rep at the uk airport, when we arrived at Rome another rep was waiting and told you which carossel.

At the side was an RCCL area where you left your cases.

You were then escourted to the bus, after a reminder to use the facilities or have a smoke before you got on the bus.

JOURNEY approx hour to hour and a half depending on traffic non stop.

On the coach you are given the forms to fill in that saves time at the port.

The return was as well organised and they even told you what check in to use for your flight home and provided a luggage trolly free of charge.

Excellent service.
