14 nt cruise - question!

We've booked our honeymoon on a 14 nt Celebrity cruise next March. We're in our late 20's and have seen a few notes saying that they people on these cruises are generally older and tend to have quiet nightclubs..

 

Does anyone know if this is right? We're on our Honeymoon so do want to spend most of the time together, but it would also be nice to be able to get out and have a boogie and mingle with some people in our age bracket?!

I have always found that the longer and more exotic the cruise is, the older the passengers will be onboard and that's true of any cruise line. Hope this helps and enjoy your honeymoon.

 

If you want a 14 day cruise, perhaps you would want to book back to back 7-day cruises, you may find more activities than a 14 day cruise. Hope this helps.

On our Panama Canal Cruise on NCL (17 days) the average age of the passengers was 63. They gave up on having a disco in the Dazzles lounge and things did get very quiet after about 11 or 12 each night.

Where is your Celebrity cruise to in March? Have you checked the roll call to see who's on it? Celebrity usually has a honeymooners/anniversary party where you will have a chance to meet other young people.

We have found the the Celebrity disco doesn't last much longer than 2am on most of our cruises except for possibly shorter summer cruises.

We're taking the 14 nit trip around Hawaii, the roll call is what got us wondering all of the people on the roll call are over 50 (We have nothing against this age group, but it's normal to have more in common with your own age group!)

 

Thank you for this information, now we're stuck wondering what to do.. I might ask the travel agent to contact Celebrity, perhaps they could look at the guest list for us as the ship is now sold out.

 

Do they also have less activities on a 14 night cruise?

No they do not have less activities on a 14 night cruise - the number of activities depends more on the port-sea day schedule. Sea days have more activities than port days due to the number of people on board.

A lot of people over 50 are extremely active and enjoy a good time. Hubby & I are in that age group and we can usually be found on the dance flooor in the Rendez-vous lounge when it opens on the first night until it closes on the last night. Each evening when the Rendez-vous would close, you could find us at the disco.

We have enjoyed our dinner companions be they younger or older than us. Celebrity is more of an elegant laid back experience. By that I mean, the staff is cordial and service oriented. There are plenty of little touches - such as the glass of champagne upon arrival, no announcements hawking bingo or activities, waiters that are there to serve you without being in your face.

If you go with a good attitude that you will have fun with ALL passengers, you may find that you have an absolutely wonderful time.

After all, you do have something in common - you will all love cruising!

I agree. There will be enough activities and things to do that you should enjoy yourself with no problem. Relax and don't worry about it :).

With over 1,000 passengers on board and so many places on board to go to do stuff, you are bound to find your own niche. There's probably at least one place that all those your age will hang out. Say out of 1,000 passengers that only 20 people are your age. You'd still find they want to do the things you want to do and around the time you like to go do them. You'll get to know those 20 more than if you briefly knew 50 or 100. We made friends from the dining room, from the golf excursion, from out at the pool and from just seeing people on deck. By the time we left, we'd wave to anyone from those groups as we passed them by. It's funny how you keep bumping into the same people. We did some casual breakfasts and who is there when we went down but our dinner table mates. They were close to our age and they were early risers like us. Don't worry. You'll do just fine.

Since it's your honeymoon, you could participate in "in cabin" activities. :D

I'm sure you'll find something to do that will keep you occupied!
