Celebrity Drink Package - can it be prorated

Hello,

I apologise in advance but couldn't find a conclusive answer anywhere from someone who may have recently cruised on Celebrity.

We are booked on a 10 night Cruise on Infinity, and were looking to buy a drinks package on Day2 of the cruise, once we have had a change to look around & do a cost/benefit analysis. I phoned Celebrity earlier today (direct), and their consultant said - it does not matter when you book - you will have to pay for the entire 10 nights, hence stating that prorating is NOT allowed.

I have read previous threads leading upto end 2012 stating that Celebrity did allow them to pro-rate... however, nothing more recently.

If you can share your recent experience, I would be grateful.

On a side not, we are due to receive an on-board saving booklet for $350 savings.. is that any good.

I thank you for your patience with us first time cruisers.

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

You also need to ask on the Celebrity board what drinks are included in the drink package -- some do not cover premium alcohols.

Also what the prices of what drinks cost if bought individually to get an idea if the package will work for you.

Remember that everyone in your cabin has to buy the drink package -- no sharing.

Coupon books -- HAL also has them and we do not find them any good. Generally you have to spend big bucks to get something free or reduced in price.

On Celebrity, not everyone in the cabin must buy a package. There was a promo 123 where that was true. But if you are buying the package yourself, one person can get one. The others can buy other packages, like water, or not buy one at all.

If i recall correctly, as far as the coupon book goes, there were a few that we were able to use, although i don't remember them all (it's been more than 3 years since we were on Celebrity.)

I think there were BOGO drinks at one or more of the bars and maybe a match play coupon for the casino. In three years, i'm sure the coupon books have changed.

However, they can save you a few dollars. i don't know if anyone saved the $350.
