SAS21 Posted June 2, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2013 I have been watching the cost of flights to Rome next May 2014. It is too far out right now to book, but the cost of flights in the early months of next year have increased by $700 for 2 ppl. I am wondering if there is a particular time period to find the best prices. Any suggestions as to when is the best time to book flights. CruiserBruce Posted June 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2013 If you look over on the Cruise Air board, you will see this topic discussed almost daily. There is NO MAGIC time to book. If there were, the air lines will have figured this out, and raised the prices then. It is commonly discussed don't book on the first couple days the fares come out. You have started down the right track. Research! You will see trends and figure out when a relatively good price has come along. Buy then, and don't look back. -Lew- Posted June 2, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2013 There was an article in the NY Times published on April 11, 2012 addressing the best time to book flights. You can find it here. Since reading that article, I have been booking between 22 and 24 weeks out from our flight date and it has worked very well. In 2012 and this year, fares went no lower than I paid and began to rise within 2 to 4 weeks after I booked. Lew
