WOW heck lost for words here but WOW :D

WOW is right. Impressive event. Having said that, three observations:

Observation #1: This open section would make me nervous...

Observation #2: What is Dr. Who's TARDIS doing on deck 5 of the Anthem?

Observation #3: Pigeons are HUGE in Papenburg, Germany! As big as ships, apparently! Hope that they are smaller in Southamton, UK!

It looks like several sections of this block are filled with water. I wonder how they ensure it doesn't rust. I know it has already a primary paint job on it but sections that are usually dry are now flooded.

To answer that age old question ...

Q. How do we get the tug boat behind the ship section we're floating out?!

A. Use a crane of course.! We got so many of them here! :D

That is a great shot. Saw a video during a float-out were one of the tugs was being lifted into place. Incredible, the things they can do at this shipyard.

On Observation # 1 - How many times can we say Wow. WOW!

While the walls may appear thin from how we see it, she is definitely Double Hull. I would also image the sections below the water are even stronger steel.

LOLOLOLOLOL!!! This observation made me choke on my coffee. :D

On a related note, I discovered our hotel in Cardiff, Wales is across the sidewalk from the Dr Who Experience and the soundstage where they film part of it. I will definitely be going now. Who knows. I might wind up on the deck of the Anthem. :D:eek::D

I don't like the design of these new ships they have coming out. With princess Norwegian etc. all of the upper decks are narrow. Compared to freedom voyager oasis class. All the decks are the same width from water line to top deck. Dissapointed.

Looks like that pigeon is being tracked - notice he has a bracelet on his leg...

Interesting!

Love the photos and video too!

I always wondered about the affects of getting sea water into the interior steel plates while they move it.

Obviously, they're not concerned about corrosion of those plates after they seal it off.

That was my thought when seeing that. I thought they would have everything sealed so no water touches what it wouldn't normally but they didn't. The fact that this section ends with a perfect line leads me to wonder if this class is designed to be extended in the future. Royal Caribbean has said that the Enchantment was not as financially viable as they had hoped and that is why they didn't do the Grandeur as originally planned, but they could still be leaving the option open in the future. Would be kind of cool if they could add a section in the middle that included Studio B.

Wow, I was away for the weekend and come back to all this! Awesome photos and video! Thank you Andreas as well as Lloyd and your loyal minions for the updates!

I had to wipe coffee from my monitor after reading the Dr. Who Tardis reference!
