Formal Nights on Eurodam Baltic Cruise

If you post your itinerary, we likely can tell you which nights will be formal.

Impossible for us to know the itinerary for every cruise on all of HAL's 15 ships.

The Main Dining Room dinner menu changes every night. You may have a few items repeated but you won't have the same menu for your dinners.

When we did that cruise in 2009 (same itinerary) we had three formal nights. The two sea days and there was a. Third "optional" night, I think it was the last night sailing out of Kiel. I will go and look for our Daily Explorers to see what I can find out.

Thank you! Do the specialty restaurants require jacket and Tie?

Pinnacle and Tamarind (on Signature class ships) follow the dress code for the ship. Canaletto is smart casual, as it's a section of the Lido.

We just got off the Baltic on 5-31-13. The Formal nights were the two sea days.

Raj- Any tips from the cruise you would pass on? Any can't miss things to do, see or eat? Thanks!

We found that for the sites we wanted to see in St Petersburg and Warnermunde (Berlin) that the best excursions were with an outside tour company named Alla Tours. They did a very good job on both tours.

In Tallin we just walked into town which was an easy 15-20 min walk, but with it being an old walled city it was pretty interesting. Lot of things and buildings to see.

In Helsinki we walked one block from the ship and bought an all-day pass from the bus driver that allowed us use on the bus/tram and ferry to the fortress island. We got to the market square by the waterfront via the bus/tram. The cost was $8 Euros per person. We did some research on the bus system so we had good maps and went all over town with them.

In Stockholm we did not do any research prior to the cruise and "winged" it on the port day. However, we found the Hop on Hop off boats were the way to go. They are right next to the ship and had multiple stops around town including Old town and the Vasa museum. The price was $20 USD/person. We used our credit card and the fee, via exchange, came to $36 USD total when it posted. The HOHO turned out to be the way to go and it was real easy getting to the Vasa Museum, a must see, pretty neat seeing the ship.

In Kiel we walked 20 mins to the train station and took the train to Lubeck an hour away. We organized groups of 5 people on one train pass for a discounted price. Great senic trip on a real quiet nice train. Walked around the old walled city of Lubeck for 3 hours then took the train back. We had about 14 people in the group and it was very enjoyable.

Around the ship, the Bierfest the evening of Warnermunde (Berlin) by the inside Lido pool with the roof open was enjoyable. They had a local German band by the pool which was enjoyable along with the brauts and beer for dinner. They also had Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier beer for sale by the pool, my favorite German beer. Really enjoyed that dinner sitting with new friends from the cruise. It turned out to be a very nice evening there.

The Desert Extravaganza was nice and better than ones we have been to on previous cruises. On the first sea day there is a High Tea at 3:00pm that might interest you. There other teas on different days, including the Cupcake tea, just look at the Daily Schedule that you get each night.

Walk the Promenade deck for exercise, HAL ships are known for this activity. It was not real warm for us to do a lot of walking but on other HAL cruises we have done a lot. Check out the library in the Explorers Café area, it is a nice place to relax and is next to the Crows Nest.

We have done the Pinnacle Grill specialty restaurant in the past and really liked it but this time we did the Tamarind restaurant (Asian) which is only available on the Eurodam and the Niew Amsterdam. Both of these have extra charges for the dinners.

Make sure you are prepared with layers for clothing. Can never tell if it will be sunny and hot or cloudy and cooler for weather.

We could go on and on. We had a great time and really enjoyed the cruise. We will get the Menus lined up and will post a link tomorrow for you to view them. We took MANY pictures but we are still working on them so they probably won’t be available to view before you leave.

Here is a link to our Skydrive which holds the photos of the menus we took in the display case out side the dinning room each night for the Baltic cruise on the Eurodam 2 weeks ago.

https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=07afc87cdf2f6dca&sc=photos#cid=07AFC87CDF2F6DCA&id=7AFC87CDF2F6DCA%215474&sc=photos

Click the first photo and it will take you to a slide show. Put your cursor on the photo and click it which will increase the size...but probable not enough to read. You can read the dessert menus this way but...... the main menus you will need to open a different way to read clearly.

In the slide show at the top, click the tab at the top of the page "View Original". This will open a new window with just the selected picture. Put your cursor on the photo and click, which will enlarge it plenty enough to read. Once done with reading it, just close that window and you will be taken back to the slide show where you can repeat the process for the other menus.

Hope this works and is not too complicated?
