Carnival Breeze or RCCL Oasis or Allure

Recommended Posts

Planning a family cruise for Thanksgiving week. Two Couples, in our fifties, and our sons who are 19 and 21.

Can't decide between the Breeze, love the itinerary and the look of the ship. Or RCCL Oasis or Allure with all the activities.

If anyone has done both, or even just one of the ships, all comments welcomed.

We have been on Allure and both sister ships to Breeze; Magic and Dream. We loved the Magic and Allure, and given a choice, if the prices and extras were comparable, we would choose Allure. We sail on Breeze in 25 days, and we are lookin forward to it. The 8 day southern itinerary on Breeze is pretty expensive, so they may be close in price. You will have fun on either, te Breeze has an awesome water park, and Oasis and Allure have lots of extras like the flowriders, rock climbing ect...

You'll get a lot of opinions, but really it will be up to you to decide were you will spend your money.

Cost--check the price and compare--do you want to spend more on the glitziness of the RCI ship, or less on the Breeze with some of the bells and whistles other ships don't have

I would encourage you to take a look at both ships and see what you and your family wants to do. If you don't care about skating, rock climbing, surf simulating, well you know what ship. If you want to try one of the only two ropes courses at sea and eat some delicious Guy Burgers, then you know which ship. I would suggest telling your spouse and kids to look at the two ships deck plans and "fun" features and then after everyone has looked hopefully you will have a majority........

You'll get a lot of people telling you what to do, but in the end, it will be YOUR vacation and what features that best suit your families needs will the ship you choose......

Oasis and Allure will naturally have more things to do seeing as they are almost almost twice the size of the Carnival Breeze.

One thing is certain though that you will have a great time regardless of the ship you choose.

If an overabundance of activities are important to you and your family go with Oasis and Allure.

If a good itinerary and ample activities are your forte go with the Carnival Breeze.

For entertainment, Breeze is pretty pathetic, and Oasis & Allure will be among the best ships of any at sea. Breeze's entertainment is a huge step down from their previous ships (Magic & Dream). For waterslides, Breeze is among the best 4 ships at sea, along with 3 other Carnival ships. Breeze has the ropes course, while the RCCL ships have the climbing wall. Breeze will almost certainly be more crowded. Oasis & Allure's only criticism seems to be that they are very inward focused; you can forget that you're even at sea. If the price is similar & you don't need waterslides, I think that Oasis & Allure blow the Breeze completely out of the water.

I've only been on one cruise and it was the Allure. I loved everything about it, and even though there are only three port days, it was well worth it. The entertainment on board was excellent! Chicago was great, the shows in the Aqua Theater were amazing. There is also the 20's party and the Fiesta in Rita's Cantina. There is something to do every day you are at sea, I found myself wanting to see shows again because they were that good. That being said, I am looking into a Carnival cruise for next year, I hope I wasn't too spoiled by Allure :)

We were going to book the Allure or Oasis as our summer/fall cruise right after we got off the Pride in March, but someone on our extended family had booked a group/family cruise on the Breeze, so we decided to join them. We're still looking at sailing on either ship late fall, or early winter 2014.

The prices were pretty close because our TA included prepaid gratuities, obc, and free specialty dinner on the RCCL ships.

Thanks for the responses.

Instead of my sister and I deciding, we'll let the husbands and sons make the decision this time..

Again, appreciate the comments............

We just got off the Breeze, there were a lot of teenagers in our group and all were highly disappointed with the lack of activities onboard.

We have previously sailed on the Oasis, and the amount of activities for all ages is incomparable..

If you are solely looking for itinerary, I think the Breeze's Southern Caribbean itinerary is a must do, it visits beautiful ports.

When it comes to the ship itself, hands down Allure or Oasis for their entertainment and quality.

However price is something you must consider, but I believe the Allure is worth it.

I've been on both. My kids and my wife hated the allure. It was crowded and the food was not as good as the dreams. It was definitely not worth the extra 1000 to go on the allure. In our opinion the Allure is a floating shopping mall. Never again

Haven't done Allure or Oasis.

Use to LOVE RCCL.

Took a cruise on Freedom of the Seas after a several years of land vacations and found that the food had gone downhill considerably. Hated the feel of FOS as it was inward focused and we felt like we were at a local mall, without decent food options. Sailed Carnival Dream and found the food better and felt like we were on a ship, not at the local mall.

Our sons (19 and 21) eventually made the decision. They said they don't go on a cruise to shop on the ship. How many times would they actually go on the Flow Rider etc etc. The ports on the 8 day itinerary sounded way better and they know they like Carnival.

So, thanks for you feedback. It helped! Love Cruise Critic.

I also debating Breeze or Allure of the Seas for next May, believe it or not Breeze is 400 more!

I don't care about shows, think the southern Caribbean is very nice to see but then I don't like to feel like I am on a crowded ship, does the Allure give the feeling that she does hold 6k passengers? We just got off NCL Breakaway with 4k passengers the most crowded feeling ship we ever been on and it had so many petty flaws just added up that we don't want NCL again, we found the Carnival Dream on par with RC ships loved her so she is also on our list for future cruises.

Putting entertainment and activities aside and focusing on the food....we love wonderful food, we do pay restaurants 5-6 evenings on a week long cruise and I like meat carvings at the lunch buffet, veggie choices, decent salad bar as well as nice meat entree's for lunches, which ship would give us the better food. We also want overall excellent service and a good casino. We like to go with family again and they like a nice pool area, nice seats to find around the pool... any ideas which ship, Allure or Breeze?

Yogimax, one reason we didn't pick the Oasis, was that we felt we had to make reservations to see the shows if you wanted to make sure you saw it at a specific time.......I got the notion that you just couldn't "show up" and expect to the the show.....any comments.

You know we're all going to cruise again.....

Out of Carnival, RCCL and Celebrity, I've liked the food best on Carnival. That always surprises me......

..

Making the reservations is no problem since you can do it weeks before you sail.

If you should forget or decide to go at another time, you may still gain access when they open the venue just before the performance begins
