Annecj Posted July 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 3, 2013 We stayed in the Four Points Sheraton in Darling Harbor. It is close to the ferry and rail.
Rare boards Posted July 3, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 3, 2013 The Park Royal in Darling Harbour is also very close to the ferry and rail. We have stayed there twice and if we back again, will again.
Kartgv Posted July 3, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 3, 2013 We also stayed pre-cruise in the Sheraton Four Points in Darling Harbor and loved it - except for prices in the hotel dining room. Go elsewhere to eat! There are plenty of choices around Darling Harbor. We even had a fireworks show right outside our window one night. After our cruise, we spent one night in the Holiday Inn "Old Sydney" on George Street. It's within a block or two of the pier and a great location for sightseeing. (We took a cab to the hotel because we had heavy luggage and people said the walk was up a hill, but later realized we could easily have walked it from the pier.) The hotel is OK, nothing special, but there's a roof deck with a pool and spectacular views of the city, Opera House, ships at the pier - almost a 360 degree view. Both places offer lots to see and do within very easy walking distance, plus easy access to public transportation.
NETSEG Posted July 3, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 3, 2013 We stayed at the Holiday Inn at The Rocks. From there we were able to walk to the Opera House, Bridge, Botanical Garden, and Darling Harbor and also were in close walking distance to the ferries to the zoo and beaches. Great location and very nice hotel.
Mark99 Posted July 3, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 3, 2013 We stayed at Holiday Inn on George St. You can take the train from airport to Circular Quay stop and walk to the hotel and walk to the pier, easy walk to shopping and opera house. Wasn't as expensive as some of the other downtown hotels, so probably not as plush, but a good relative value, especially given the location. Allis154 Posted July 3, 2013 #8 Share Posted July 3, 2013 We stayed at the Grace...great hotel! We walked everywhere. we stayed for one night, then left for a couple of weeks, then returned for 2 nights. They were nice enough to hold our luggage during those 2 weeks, so we didn't have to cart our formal wear and cruise stuff around AU with us. Jade13 Posted July 3, 2013 #9 Share Posted July 3, 2013 Do any of these hotels have free WiFi?
Australian family Posted July 3, 2013 #10 Share Posted July 3, 2013 You need to specify where your cruise is leaving from. We stayed at the Marriott at Circular Quay, very nice. And if you join the Marriott rewards on line (free) you will also get free wifi. Hotels in Australia charge for wifi.
Northern Aurora Posted July 4, 2013 #11 Share Posted July 4, 2013 We stayed in Sydney for a week following a Honolulu to Sydney cruise in 2011. We stayed at the Sir Stamford at Circular Quay, and found the location perfect for the activities and sights we wanted to visit. And (at least at that time) the Sir Stamford offered free Wi-fi in the hotel lobby.
Allis154 Posted July 11, 2013 #12 Share Posted July 11, 2013 Do any of these hotels have free WiFi? The Grace didn't, but we watched for sales and deals...got breakfast and boradband included with the room for our stay.
