Cruiser from MS Posted July 9, 2013 #26 Share Posted July 9, 2013 I'm curious did you find this ship's cabin temp a little warm? We were on the Magic this past May and our cabin was borderline hot. I kept calling to get this taken care of and finally they told me that the temp's were regulated to range between 72 and 74 degrees. For me 72 is a little warm to sleep and 74 is way to warm to sleep. This was not my first Carnival cruise and I love Carnival. So I was just wondering if other people found this ship a little on the warm side. I did love everything else about this ship.
Britbrie Posted July 9, 2013 Author #27 Share Posted July 9, 2013 This area was used mainly on sea days for a salad bar to accompany the seaside bbq. On Deck 5 (Promenade) they have added a lot more seating, and outdoor seating. I think it is a nice addition, but for the balcony rooms it's not all that great to have to look down on the deck. They also added a lot of computer hubs around the ship. The internet packages they sold were per day high speed, unlimited high speed, and unlimited slow speed. We purchased the unlimited slow speed, and honestly it wasn't slow! The casino was pretty large sized, and had a good bit of gaming tables. (Sorry for the blurry pic!) Britbrie Posted July 9, 2013 Author #28 Share Posted July 9, 2013 Carnival was also very smart to decide to add 'The Sweet Spot', which is a candy shop. You pay for the candy by the lb, and it was definitely a popular kid stop! Some more of the outdoor seating They also added hot tubs on both sides of the outdoor area on deck 5 At this point, we decided to go to check out our stateroom on Deck 7! Britbrie Posted July 10, 2013 Author #34 Share Posted July 10, 2013 Alright, sorry I took a little while to post back. I had to go back to work today... the vacation is officially over! Anyhow, I left us off where we were about to check out our stateroom! The cruise director, James Charlton (more on him later), announced before the 1:30 pm time that our staterooms were ready. Britbrie Posted July 10, 2013 Author #35 Share Posted July 10, 2013 So the stateroom was very nice! I love that Carnival brought out more calming hues of blue and turquoise rather than that awful yellow/orange color in some of the other ships. The balcony had a lounge chair (which was very nice), and two normal chairs/a small table. It was very nice to go out there and just relax, however the thing I did not like was the extended deck 5 below. Now instead of looking down on the ocean, you have to see deck chairs or a hot tub. Honestly, as the cruise went on it didn't really bother me... but NO ONE was ever down there laying on a deck chair, so it was kind of a waste of space. There was also a mini fridge that had liquor and sodas... my uncle claimed they reduced the price of them down to $2.00, but I'm not sure that its true! I know that those giant liter waters have increased in price since my last cruise. The bathroom/dressing area was very nice as well, we had plenty of storage space to put our 4 suitcases and all of our clothing. Everything was very nice, and clean as well. On the tv, it was very easy to access your account and see how much money you had spent up to that point. The tv also showed 2 rotating movies each day (The Dark Night Rises, Brave, Hope Springs and The Odd Life of Timothy Green). Our view of Galveston from the balcony:
Britbrie Posted July 10, 2013 Author #36 Share Posted July 10, 2013 Around this time, it was time for the safety briefing. Our muster station was inside the Showtime Theatre. It was soooo much more comfortable than being outside on the decks, but was very crowded. After the safety drill, we went to explore the shop a little bit more. The waterslides: The Serenity area on this ship was HUGE! It consisted of a lot of lounge chairs, hammocks and a hot tub. Britbrie Posted July 12, 2013 Author #50 Share Posted July 12, 2013 On this ship, they have the Cucina del Capitano (I have to say the food is AMAZING!!!!!). They serve pasta from 12:30-2:30 pm on the first day, and if you eat there at dinner you have to pay a small fee (but it is definitely worth it). Anyway, I'll talk more about the Cucina del Capitano later. We also decided to check out the Red Frog Pub before sail away: I tried to take pictures of the first days menu, but they came out pretty blurry. After sail away, they changed the menu to the lengthier one. The thirsty frog red was VERY popular on the ship, and those 101 oz tubes were selling like crazy. So apparently it's pretty good! We ordered drinks from a very nice, but slow bartender! Oh well, we were on cruise time... My mom decided to try the Caribbean Colada
