2nd Breakaway Plus Confirmed

perkydebrajean- I have been told on these boards that the Gem is wonderful in fact half of us that went on the Breakaway did go on the Gem and said they enjoyed that ship so much....maybe down the road we will give it a try and thank you for that suggestion. ;)

As you can see from my sig bock I am a fan of the Jewel class ships. You seem not to like mega ships - trying a Jewel class ship might just change your views on NCL in general.

I have only toured Breakaway - not sailed on it. It is not top of my to-do list. We both prefer the 'smaller' ship (2000 pax ain't exactly small but whatever). Jade is lovely - we are sailing on the Spirit at Christmas and, by all accounts, it is a lovely ship.

Do not close your mind to different experiences based on one particular experience. JMHO.

Hi SteveH...I love large ships I been on many of RC ships that hold 4k passengers never felt that they had 4k passengers the flow interior and exterior was excellent....after the Breakaway being such a tall ship with many decks my other half made the conclusion he does not care for mega ships and I convinced him he cannot judge one mega ship and one cruise line so I talked him into trying RC Allure of the Seas next year. I feel judging a mega ship by one ship is not fair, so I have to say its not that I didn't like a "mega ship" she just had too many negatives for us and the major fact we found ourselves in traffic jams on her and she did feel like she had 4k passengers.

After the Allure next year then its proper to make a judgement regarding mega ships. I think I will like them and I shall see as its all in the way they are planned and built I think.

I have heard the Gem is overall a great ship.

EXACTLY!! We did our first cruise on the lovely Sky.....and followed it up with the equally lovely (IMO ) Epic! Couldn't have been more different if they tried.....and we had an amazing time on both of them in very different ways. Next up for us.....the Jade! :)

I would love to try the Breakaway......and her two * plus-size * sisters!! ( love it :) ).....my DH.......not so much.

We'll look forward to seeing where they will sail from. Being in the UK makes it expensive for us to cruise from the US, but I'd love to give it another go! :)

I've been thinking exactly the same for weeks now, thank you for vocalizing it. ;)

Been thinking that since I started seeing the weekly thread about Ocean Blue menu, back in Feb or Mar?

PS- Loved the Epic, and looking at sailing the Breakaway next year.

I actually found just having the forward/aft stairs not bad.

I just wish I could believe any of it. You OBVIOUSLY over-planned and over-thought the cruise. Your disappointments were completely of your own making. People here have sailed Breakaway before and after you did and the vast majority of them disagree.

BTW...The infamous "case closed" statement is ALWAYS a strong clue that the person is nowhere near done talking about the subject...and every NCL post you make from here on out just proved that even more.

Maybe NCL isn't for you. No big deal...you should go someplace where you will be happy. You should go someplace where you will be satisfied. You should go someplace where you will enjoy the food. You should go...someplace else.

Amen.

Back to OP, can't even consider Breakaway Plus until I finish my next two cruises on Breakaway - The Original Series! Woohoo!

SeaShark there is no way the Breakaway would been better, I experienced her and came off and just compared it to other ships and cruise lines to find too many negatives. Crew was not friendly like all other cruise lines, specialty dining overall was so so (except Le Bistro was excellent), it gave us all a very crowded feeling out of any other ship we been on, not mentioning getting into "traffic jams", the buffet for people such as myself to be gluten free was awful (other cruise lines give veggies with no sauces so I was able to eat that, there were no meat carvings which I can eat other than the first day), and after 10pm there was nothing for me to eat besides French fries in O'Sheehans that was it. The ship rocked the most out of all my other 49 cruises I taken and the bed was too short. We don't care whether the pool was too small for this ship as we didn't use it or do we lie out in the sun, where it was very packed. All these things plus others just added up and for disabled people who need to use scooters and wheelchairs the hallways were way too narrow (if cabin steward out with the cart he would have to move it so they can get by) sorry but your incorrect to say I went on her with too high expectations the proof of how we feel was just what we had experienced on her.

I realize many have raved about NCL smaller ships I do believe there is a lot of truth that if I had taken one of those ships I would of had a lot less negatives perhaps very few if any at all.

If you don't want to read my posts just block me please. I just wish I had waited for this cruise because reading these posts I would of cancelled and taken a better ship that would of been a lot nicer. I realize that NCL has their own people on this boards and I realize they do not like what I have to say but nobody going to tell me not to post how I feel it is what this board is all about, case closed on this issue.

Ignore home hes still made they didn't open the casino 24/7

We have similar cruise experience! I started with the Sky, followed up with the Epic, and then sailed the Breakaway in May. Loved it!!!! If you loved the Epic, you'll love the Breakaway even more. I feel they took the best of the Epic and put it on the Breakaway and fixed some of the Epic complaints.

Happy sailing! I look forward to sailing on the Breakaway Plus.

Fundamentally, the Breakaway-Plus twins will be identical to their smaller sisters. However, as Kevin Sheehan already indicated (prematurely, I think ;)) the Plus girls will have an additional deck of public space. I'm hoping there will be some kind of extra pool. As I've posted elsewhere, my only complaint with Norwegian is the lack of an adults-only solarium pool due to the placement of the Haven. It would be nice if they offered something like it. It would also be nice if they brought back the Spinnaker Lounge.

However, I don't want bumper cars, ice skating, or any pods on stick!! :p

From the press release linked to in this thread I found this:

...said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line's chief executive officer. "With groundbreaking elements, yet to be announced, and an additional deck to incorporate further innovations, our two Breakaway Plus ships will provide guests even more ways to experience all that the new Norwegian has to offer."

Which certainly confirms the extra deck. Do you know where Mr. Sheehan wrote that it would be public space? Adding public space to these ships would be a wonderful improvement worth cheering for.

"He also revealed that Breakaway Plus, which will be larger than Breakaway and the line's next new ship, Getaway, with 4,200 passengers, will have an additional deck of public space: “It's a little bit early for details, but we have been working very hard, the designs are almost set. It will have an additional deck, a partial deck, of public space and so we think it's just going to enhance that experience for the guests.”

Lyndamr, you're entitled to post on these boards or anywhere else you choose. I think the issue is more that you're saying the same thing over and over, just as you asked many of the same questions over and over prior to sailing on the Breakaway. I can't count how many times you've stated that you were sorry you "strayed" from RCI since you got back. The reasons why you feel that way have been repeated in numerous posts as well.

For you, the Breakaway wasn't a good experience. For others, it was. Reviews are mostly someone's opinions influenced by many different factors. That's why I don't put a lot of trust in them to be completely factual. I might like the ship and I might not, but I'd rather find out for myself.

Thank you for that info. Definitely sounds like a move in the right direction. Almost 200 more passengers than the first Breakaway, but with almost 20,000 more tonnage there should still be a significantly better ratio of public space. Very good news.
