Delta ft 1

Has anyone flown on Delta flight 1 out of jfk, and if you have what food did they serve? This is an overnight flight leaving at 7:20pm. Not 1st class.

I actually have, although it was 5 years ago. Pretty routine TA flight, drinks, supper, eventually some sort of pseudo-breakfast and warm-beverage service.

Typical Delta flights over the Atlantic in coach or economy comfort will first serve a snack (peanuts or pretzels) with beverages right after takeoff. Next, and shortly thereafter, a dinner (usually a choice of chicken, pasta or grilled chicken salad) will be served and then another beverage service will be offered. Then the flight attendants will run through the cabin with the duty free cart for duty free purchases while in flight. Then they will turn off the lights so passengers can sleep if they want. If you are lucky - cups of water will then be brought thru the cabin and offered to passengers a few times and then finally about 1 hour and 45 min prior to landing they will serve beverages like coffee and juice and a breakfast. The breakfast is usually a egg and cheese muffin with a banana and orange juice. One more time thru with the offer of juice or coffee and then you land.

One thing to keep in mind is that for the dinner you may not always get your dinner choice - there are only so many of each option on the plane and if you are at the end of the service section you will have to take what is left on the cart. So if you are picky about your food - take some with you from the terminal.

Also - if you get thirsty during flight - or want more peanuts - you can always walk to the back of the plane and ask for something to drink or more peanuts from the flight attendants.

Have a good flight!

Note that DL has a new setup at JFK. The old T3 (former PanAm WorldPort - more recently named "Third WorldPort") is closed and in the process of being torn down. International flights leave from the newly redone/expanded T4, while most domestic flights still use T2. There is an airside bus between T2 and T4, so a domestic flight to JFK would not have a security screening when heading to T4.

Check the DL website for updated maps and information.

Don't forget that Delta also serves special meals upon request. There is a list on the web site, but, they have also been known to loose the requests too. Of course, the same holds true for every airline that serves a meal.

The portions are not huge. There will be a salad, entrée, bread, and a sweet of some kind. The peanut and pretzel portions are tiny. When someone with a peanut allergy makes a plea to the flight attendants they may not serve the peanuts within a certain range of the requesting passenger or on the entire plane.

If you do bring your own food, be sure to either dispose of it on the plane or check to see if you can offload it at LHR. Many countries have restrictions.
