Tip Currency, Not a tipping thread!

We are going on the British Isle cruise.

Does anyone know what currency the staff on the ship would prefer to receive from tips?

The ship originates from Southampton, England. USD, BPS or Euro's?

This is for tips above the auto tip.

The on board currency will be US$. The staff will be off the ship in the UK to spend pounds. So I would say either

If the following cruise or cruises are also in the UK I would say GBP. If the ship is moving to the Med I would say Euros.

Pounds would be the most convenient for the staff as they will have off days to use it. However, either US or euros will work as they can always convert.

They'll be quite happy with either US dollars or euros ! :D

Rule of thumb, use either USD (they have machines on board which load USD onto phone cards, internet etc) or the currency which is used in the most ports visited on the route (if the ship is repositioning afterward try to take that into account). That way you have the best chance of giving them currency they can use on a day off without them having to lose some in exchange rates.
