califgary Posted July 26, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2013 I noticed on our Hawaii cruise we will have only 3 formal nights on a 15 day cruise - wonder if this is because its hawaii bound or if this is a change? Anyone else on a longer cruise show fewer formal nites? Just curious.

califgary Posted July 26, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted July 26, 2013 good to know as I expected at least 4 - thanks for your response
Grumpy1328 Posted July 26, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2013 3 are normal for a 15 night cruise. The number of formal nights is determined by the length of the cruise. The following is from Princess' web site: We want to make it as easy as possible for you to know what to pack and what to wear when you’re dining onboard. See below for an example of formal night schedules based on the length of your cruise. LENGTH OF CRUISENUMBER OF FORMAL EVENINGS1 - 3 DAYS 0, 4 - 6 DAYS 1, 7 - 13 DAYS 2, 14 - 20 DAYS 3, 21 - 28 DAYS 4, 29+ DAYS 5 MINIMUM
califgary Posted July 26, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted July 26, 2013 thanks again ive havnt done Princess in a few years - we have done HAL last couple of times and I think they still do the 4 on a 14 day.
caribill Posted July 26, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 26, 2013 Please note that the above list is for a cruise segment. So if a 15 day cruise is a single segment (which the Hawaii cruise is), the answer is 3 formal nights. However if you are on a fifteen day cruise that is a 7 day segment plus an 8 day segment, the rules for each segment apply, so that 15 day B2B cruise would have four formal evenings. Jasperdo Posted July 27, 2013 #7 Share Posted July 27, 2013 On our 14 day Hawaii cruise on the Golden Princess there was one formal night headed to Hawaii, and two on the way back to Ensenada. I would think the 15 day would do the same.
Cruisin' Chick Posted July 27, 2013 #8 Share Posted July 27, 2013 As others have said, a regular two week cruise has three formal days. We've been on three Hawaiian cruises that were 14 or 15 days, since 2005, so it's nothing new, and it's because of the length of the cruise and not the itinerary. dorisis Posted July 27, 2013 #9 Share Posted July 27, 2013 On B2B cruises it can be 4 for 14 days.
Cruisin' Chick Posted July 27, 2013 #10 Share Posted July 27, 2013 On B2B cruises it can be 4 for 14 days. The Hawaiian cruises on Princess are regular, non B2B cruises. So again, three formal dinners.

The B2B (7 & 8 days) for a total of 15 will have 4 formal nights! LuLu ~~~~
