joshd33 Posted August 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Heading out on the Magic in a couple days and are doing anytime dining. Are all the tables for 2 super close or can you ask for a more private table? Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
cuyahoga11 Posted August 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2013 There is nothing private at any of the 2 tops. And the middle line of 2 tops are just as close to the 4 tops. In other words, very cozy.
SadieN Posted August 3, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Haven't beenon the Magic but it seems that the two-tops are either set 2 inches apart or placed akwardly in the middle of the aisle. If you want a real private two-top eat in the buffet. Most nights it is uncrowded.
gww60 Posted August 3, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2013 We tried any time on the Liberty. First night we got the very close tables but later found a great waiter and assistant. From that point on we asked for him and were given a 4 person table in his section. This was a booth with much more room between the tables nearby. joshd33 Posted August 3, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Thanks for the replies everyone! I wonder if they'd let us ask for a booth? I guess it depends on how busy they are at the time as I'm sure they would like to keep those avail for parties of 4. Maybe if we go in between peak times.... Oh well, not a big deal either way, just thought I'd ask. Thanks again! Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
joepeka Posted August 3, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2013 It looks like you've gotten some pretty comprehensive answers on this and the only thing I can add is a photo - this is from the Freedom, last year. Not all the 2-tops are this close but the majority are so you will feel "chummy" with the adjacent table. ;)
Cruizinman Posted August 3, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Why do they call them two tops on the newer ships when its elbow to elbow . The fellow next to me squeezed a lemon and got me right in the eye

mrpayroll Posted August 3, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 3, 2013 With all the requests for two tops, all they did is move the four or six tops about 8 inches apart. Presto, you now have your two top. They still can seat only so many people in the space they have....
taylorjeanne84 Posted August 4, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 4, 2013 I'm fairly new to cruising, so not sure how the etiquette would rule in this case, but would it be okay to ask for a private booth or 4 top and give a little "extra?" to the maitre'd? Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my table mates on my last cruise, but just curious in case we aren't in the chatty mood that we usually are in! serene56 Posted August 4, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 4, 2013 booths will hold 3/4 people if you go'to dinner between 6:00 through 7:30 your chances of getting a booth for two'people is rather slim

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app Just ask early, get on line after you board and depending on what other people are requesting, often they will grant it without a problem. We find it doesn't matter if you tip of not, it more matters about the dining room itself and what other diners are requesting. Good Luck

Parrotheads:)demise Posted August 27, 2013 #15 Share Posted August 27, 2013 My Experience with Anytime Dining has been very good... The matre d' usually asks if you want to sit with a group or alone and has been very accomdating. The only time when it felt cramped was when you ask to sit by the window, probably their biggest request. Hard to get privacy then.

Parrotheads:)demise Posted September 5, 2013 #21 Share Posted September 5, 2013 Anytime dining is at the midship dining room. Scheduled dining is in the aft dining room.
