Mikee355 Posted August 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2013 Where is the best place to enjoy Glacier Bay from on the HAL Zuiderdam? How early should we take our positions? Any other advice on our Glacier Bay day would be most welcome!
CruiserBruce Posted August 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2013 The bow is always a neat place to be. It should be open.
LEtue Posted August 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2013 I would recommend that you are on deck at least an hour before or by day break. There is so much marine life in the area that you don't want to miss seeing. Enjoy :D
Budget Queen Posted August 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2013 If you are coming from Juneau/Skagway, then I am always out about an hour prior to the posted dawn time. There are VERY few other people out so not popular. Do realize, this is for the wildlife potential. If that is not of interest, from your posted time, it is about 3 hours until you get to glacier viewing. The bow is excellent, especially early, since plenty of ease in moving around. Even at peak glacier time, I don't find the crowds significant. Even if several people are in front of you, you have plenty of good viewing, just keep moving. I also like the side open decks, where getting a rail spot is pretty easy. I then stay out all day, ducking in for quick eating and staying out at least another hour past leaving Glacier Bay. Again, NOT what most people do, but my priority. You need to figure out your timing and what your priority and interests are.
