Amazon cruise and vaccinations

Yes you will need everything going and including yellow fever which is a chargeable injection (circa £50). You should make an appointment with your GP practice nurse. Tell them your itinerary and they will advise what you need. No one on here knows your medical history so can't advise you.

Thanks Brian, will see my doctor nearer the time. We are both fit and well but will have any protection offered just in case.

Dont leave it too late as there are some vaccinations that cant be given at the same time as others and some may require a two stage injection.

Would recommend you visit about six weeks before departure.

This site gives useful information but you will need your doctor/nurse to maybe interpret. They have acces to up to date online information.

BUT don't be fooled into injections that you don't need. For instance, one of the hepatitis jabs is unnecessary unless you plan on eating ashore as it can only be caught from contaminated water and food. Yellow Fever jabs last 10 years, so if you've had one before, check your dates.

I would talk to your doctor asap about the yellow fever and certainly before you book. I seem to recall they are not keen for people of a certain age to have it.

I would add that I don't recall what the 'certain age' is, or for that matter you age :)

Hi,

We are also on this cruise, booked it last week and our TA told us at the time of booking that the yellow fever jab was compulsory, the last time I had this jab we were going on a family holiday to W.Africa and my son was unable to have the jab due to medical reasons....allergy to eggs!! Luckily it was not compulsory then, but I believe you need to show your Yellow Fever certificate at check in at the airport on this cruise, I have checked at our surgery and they don't do it so have to go to next town.

This cruise is selling fast.

Regards Melissa
