CAS VIP Royal Treatment

It is listed as a Golden Level Perk, though.

It is? I looked at all their material and did not notice this anywhere. It does list VIP Royal Treatment but does not specifically mention Cagneys.

Terms like VIP get thrown around alot my marketing folks.

If you are Golden, do you know why you were given VIP Royal Treatment? I would have thought that you'd need to be VIP (above Golden) to get those perks.

Either way, good for you!

Golden receives VIP treatment, there are just a few items that they don't get that the next tier (VIP) gets (Complimentary Ultra Drinks While Playing in the Casino, Soda Package for Two, Complimentary Private Transportation To/From Ship and Global Cash Fees Waived).

Thanks for the explanation everyone. I guess I just kept thinking that VIP would be for their VIP level.

Guess I'll have to review the list more carefully before our next cruise as I'm now Golden. Wouldn't want to miss out on any good stuff!

Thanks. I'm on the breakaway next month, but on the Gem for nine days in February. And I only need about 5500 more points to get to VIP. So now I'm really looking forward to the Gem. I will have the spa, soda card, pack of cigarettes every day, and Cagneys. I will be in heaven. I had been debating whether to upgrade to full suite from mini aft. Cagneys is one of the only reasons I would do that. Now I have more money to gamble......

I missed out on the breakfast/lunch since Breakaway only had it for Haven Suites.......as will the Getaway.

Funny how they give you something for reaching a certain level, yet the newer ships don't have it to give it to you! (Another example is the spa pass that I won't be able to use on my upcoming Sun cruise since they don't have spa passes, etc. on that ship.

I'm pretty sure that's why they say "VIP Treatment" instead of spelling out the exact perks - gives them leeway to grant some amenities, some of the time, without being bound in writing to always provide that perk. Makes sense to me. But I can just hear the complaints rolling in now.. BTW, I received NOTHING after making Golden on the Breakaway - no bonus points, no upgraded drink card, nothing, and CAS is still denying me the bonus points.. It's not in writing so I guess it's their right.

To my knowledge I haven't received the bonus points either...I am going to follow up on that one. I didn't get my upgraded drink card or Golden card until my next cruise after reaching Golden.

I made VIP on the Breakaway and I, also, received NOTHING for moving up. Once home I e-mailed CAS and they gave me my points and told me that I was VIP. That was in July. I e-mailed CAS again a few days ago and they emailed me back and also said I was now VIP, however, the points they told me I had is 360 less than what CAS e-mailed me I had after my Breakaway cruise in July. I have both e-mails and plan on bringing the one from July with 360 more points with me on my next cruise in October. I also asked them about the bonus points and their reply was that the bonus points don't count towards your tier but are only useable for using those points to play or using those points to lower your bill at the end of the cruise. They did tell me that when I get on the Sun in October to have them check what points I have left over from the Breakaway and they will apply them to the Sun cruise...but again, those don't go towards one's tier.

Harriet, thanks so much for the details, it makes things clearer! I figured the same about the bonus points not counting towards tier (that would be a tad ridiculous - but very nice - if they did :D). And happy to see from everyone else that at least every ship besides the BA is granting at least some next tier perks upon reaching that status (better drink card, etc) - it gives me hope that perhaps by my next two or three sailings they might get this all straight :D!

I am still having major problems with CAS and my tier points. I just called a few minutes ago and booked a sailing for next year, and once again, they are confirming me as "Hot" level only. And, as usual, I ask them to investigate further where they miraculously find my Breakaway points and confirm me as Golden - but now quoting me a FIFTH different tier points balance (I have been quoted everywhere from ~8000 tier points to ~22,000 tier points since my BA sailing). I have emailed numerous times, gotten one email in return (stating Hot status, ~8000 tier points, and excluding my BA points), otherwise they never even return my emails.. My BA points have varied by as much as 6000 points on different calls - and I know what I earned (I pay attention, hehehe, and had problems with points accrual on the actual BA sailing, so kept very careful track of the screen). I'm at my wits end, just trying to confirm my points and tier status.

I booked a sailing today for next May (Garden Villa yay!) but am holding out on booking the other three I am hoping to book prior to that one until they get this mess straight. Three different agents have contacted me this week to book something, and I just tell them I refuse until CAS straightens it all out and gets me something in writing. If I pass on those other sailings, hey, it's their loss, not mine, I'll just donate to Caesar's instead!

Be mindful of one thing.......

like Harrahs, your tier status as of now is ONLY good until 3/31/14

They go from April 1st to March 31st as their year. ....yet you can move up during that year/timeframe.

I know this because I had a cruise scheduled on the Getaway for April 2014 (which I've since changed to May for different reasons) and I was told that my VIP tier status would not be in affect since it was after March 31st, 2014 UNLESS I had earned VIP status again during the qualifying period.

I missed out and am a little upset about it! I was on the Breakaway in June and walked on as Golden and moved up to VIP on that ship. I was never told/invited/etc. about being able to eat breakfast and lunch anywhere except in the MDR or the buffet! Yea, I'm a little pissed!

However, what can be done about it now that the cruise is over!

Yes, No, Sort of.

If it is just like Harrahs, and most others, here is how I read it, though it is not clear on all points in their online rules, etc.

1) If you earned a level based on play prion to March 2013, that level is good for one year, to March 2014. That part seems rather clear.

2) If you earn that level anytime between April of 2013 and March 2014, that level is good for the remainder of that period, and for a full year after that.

So, if you made it to Gold in February of 2014, it would be good until March 31, 2015. One year and a few months.

And, if you made Gold in April of this year (2013), that would be good for the rest of the year through March 2014, and as well as March 2015.

Bottom line, you always get AT LEAST a year at that level. Depending on timing, maybe more.

They of course can change all the rules with little to no notice.

Okay, now I'm confused. I was recently, in June 2013, on the Breakaway and on that cruise went from Golden to VIP tier. I have since booked another comped cruise in May 2014 on the Getaway. They told me that my VIP tier status would no longer be in effect on that May 2014 cruise as the tier period ends March 31, 2014. CAS said that my new tier level for that cruise would depend on points earned during the qualifying period.

They never mentioned anything to me that since I reached VIP status in June 2013 that it would be good for a year after that date....they simply said it would expire March 31, 2013. If what you're saying is true then it would be good until June 2014 and my May 2014 cruise would qualify me for VIP, however, CAS said it does not.

I hope CAS is wrong and you're right! LOL

Harriet

Edit: Reading what's on NCL site it does say," Tier elevations are based on reward points earned within 12 months, and are valid for 18 months from date of earning. "

So, if that is true than I should have VIP Tier Status until October 2014 since I earned VIP status June 2013

That would be excellent.

I believe it's wrong....or at least it's the opposite of what CAS told me on the phone.

Here is a good question for CAS.

If I go on a cruise in April 2014, what tier will I be at? (and what is the QUALIFYING PERIOD for that tier/time?)

Based on what some are saying, everyone that cruises starting in April 2014 will be at the entry level, even if they blew through $50,000 in back in March - only a month earlier. And, even the tightest casino program can not be that bad. Not buying this.

This is really pretty simple stuff, and they could solve lots of problems by putting it in writing. The only thing they have made clear that I can see is

a) Anyone that played from April of 2012 through March 31, 2013 will be at a certain tier level based on the play during the year BEFORE the program started.

b) Any play since March 31st would move you up based on the tier levels.

c) In either a/ or b) above, you keep that tier for until at least March 2014.

d) Even if you had zero play during the qualification play/time listed you can still get a level based on play happening now. I played in July and went from Lucky to Hot while on the cruise. And that play of course was NOT in the qualification period listed.

The problem is.....I don't think THEY know!

I do, however, know that I printed out what's on their website that does say, " Tier elevations are based on reward points earned within 12 months, and are valid for 18 months from date of earning." I plan to take it with me on my May 2014 cruise. I also have an e-mail that I printed out and am going to take with me as well, that says that I'm now VIP tier level as of June 2013.

I'm sure they'll be making a lot of phone calls if they don't get their sh** together before then!
