Krazy Kruizers Posted August 22, 2013 #26 Share Posted August 22, 2013 Where has the Rijsttafel Indonesian Food sampler gone?! That dinner disappeared off the Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam ships -- Tamarind restaurant only -- a couple of years ago. Not many people were interested in it. Oceanwench Posted August 22, 2013 #27 Share Posted August 22, 2013 When we were on Nieuw Amsterdam earlier this year, we found the sea bass had been removed from the menu and replaced with another fish. I was disappointed, as I had had the sea bass on Eurodam and it was the best I'd ever tasted. Our Tamarind experience was spoiled by a boisterous table of about a dozen. We asked to be moved, but the restaurant isn't large enough to get far enough away from a noisy bunch like that. It really affected the ambiance, sad to say. But of course it won't stop me from returning! :D

Thank you CC family :) taneous@hotmail.com Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app We have NCL on hold and X Deposited... Did have the Royal booked, but i can not handle the icky cold room service :( So it will be one of the two. Tomorrow X starts the pick your perk again, and they are offering the beverage package, and its only $11.50 to upgrade to the premium. They have a really great wine list and you can keep tasting all day for free till you find something you like. I would love to stay with HAL, but the wine debacle is a little much. We will see if they work out a beverage package, or corkage fee, or a better wine list or etc. I get back my computer on Tuesday and i will be doing the wine petition then, but i am not counting on anything happening. Typhoon1 Posted December 13, 2013 #33 Share Posted December 13, 2013 Lunch is free. (for now) It's a good way to check out the Tamarind. Dinner is totally different menu and far superior.
bshow Posted December 13, 2013 #34 Share Posted December 13, 2013 Tamarind is excellent, and serves huge portions! The food is fairly "Americanized" in my opinion. The tenderloin is basically a very nice steak with onion rings. Not really Asian. I had the Penang Curry, which was superb. You can specify the heat level you want. I had medium, which was pretty tame. Sashimi was very good, and a huge portion again. Anyway, a great value with lovely service and presentation. Be sure to come hungry! I don't know why people go there and order steak. That's one dish I didn't care for there. Love the Penang curry.

dadroy Posted December 13, 2013 #38 Share Posted December 13, 2013 I've become such a contrarian. I followed the advice and ordered the beef tenderloin. Did not like it all that much. I actually wish I had ordered something else. It could just be me, but it was not very tender and had a lack of flavor. I know that with all foods, 90% of tenderloin may be very tender and the othe 10% turns out to be really bad, mine was very bad. Just my 2cents. You can make reservations any time for lunch. Sea days it is very popular. So if you are interested in making a lunch reservation, do so on Embarkation day. The steak is not the best in there in my experience. I would rather go to the Pinnacle for that.
