Rare luvbigdogs Posted August 23, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2013 Trying to plan a dive trip for the day in Cozumel... 1) Does the ship dock at the Punta Langosta Pier downtown or the International Pier south of town? 2) Cozumel is on Central time. Does the ship stay on Eastern time the whole week, or change? Thanks!
cruizinmimi Posted August 23, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2013 Usually at the International Pier.
Eng23 Posted August 23, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2013 Oasis/Allure and most Royal Caribbean ships use the International Pier.
macruisefan Posted August 23, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2013 2) Cozumel is on Central time. Does the ship stay on Eastern time the whole week, or change? Traditionally, ships always stayed on a single time zone (most traditionally, GMT). However, since people are generally stupid when they are on vacation, most cruise lines have since shifted and now adjust the time for whatever port they are in. This way the people (again, generally stupid when on vacation), don't get confused and miss the ship!
39august Posted August 23, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2013 Whether the ship stays on departure port time or changes to a local port time is up to the captain. So either could be true on your cruise.

Well then I guess that half of the humans I run across are on vacation no matter where I go....that's one strange coincidence.
QuickGold Posted August 26, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 26, 2013 THe ship usually stays on eastern time. Keep that in mind when going downtown because many shops do not open until later in the morning
Froggitt Posted August 26, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 26, 2013 Worked well for us as we booked an 8.30am local time ATV excursion, which was 9.30am ship time, so we still had lie in/breakfast etc. Met at the El Cid hotel, minutes from the ship. Agreed, it was really maddening walking over to the other pier to Pancho's for a breakfast margarita and they were closed!!!!! We went back in the afternoon, though, so all was well.:D
