Pre-cruise hotel Barbados

We love the Hilton.Quiet area, beautiful beach and pool, lovely beach side restaurant, wonderful views from every where and a great little restaurant within a 2 minute walk. Slow service sometimes but remember you are in Caribbean time! We also liked the Accra Breach, great beach, busier, walk into a small town but more hectic, and some rooms back up against a burned out building which was the case when we were there, maybe it has changed, nice pool but Hilton pool was better, in the Accra make sure you ask for water view in the case of the Hilton you do not have to. Have a great cruise Windstar cruises are the best. Susanne

Accra is nice but the managment suck. Flew in late in the day for a 2 night pre cruise stay and even though our TA had booked it and we all put up a deposit, they were overbooked. Transferred us after midnight to a dump and didn't even offer to pay. Returned the next day and did not get a room until 5pm. Total wasted day. When we returned from the cruise we had planned to stay there again since no other hotels were available, we got off the Windspirit early and again were forced to set in the lobby again till 5pm. RUDE RUDE RUDE and still paid $350 night for the misery.

I have recently stayed at the Hilton for business. It would be fine for a few days pre-cruise, not sure I would want to vacation there for a week or 2. staff at the ahilton are very nice. I have also stayed briefly at Accra Beach, again it's fine for a few nights. Another alternative is the Radisson which is near the Hilton. Price will be lower than Hilton and the Radisson is newly renovated, but I have not stayed there so can't comment much further than that. There are many places on the West coast, if you want to stay at a nice, more intimate hotel and make your trip more memorable, but these hotels come at a much higher cost, so it depends on your budget. Hope this helps.

We were very happy with the upgraded room at the Savannah. To unwind when we arrived we swam in the winding pool, cool water but oh so fun. Beautiful beach to sit in a lounge chair in the shade and gaze at the ocean. Much less crowded then the Hilton down the beach, more of a small boutique hotel. Very nice restaurant next door to walk to dinner (39 Steps). Enjoyed lunch outside by pool and beach. Only detraction was Barman listening to political radio.

we have tried the hilton and the accra pre-cruise and enjoyed both. of the 2 i would take the hilton. however, we like the blue orchid the best. it is a small, intimate hotel right on the water with a nice beach, a small pool and a real barbados feel to it. it is located right near the accra.

We stayed at Bougainvillea Beach Resort for three nights post-cruise a few years ago and loved it. It's on Maxwell Beach, a little ways out of town. Oistens Fish Fry is just up the road.

They arranged for 'their' taxi (a local driver who transports a lot of their guests) to pick us up after the Windsurf docked and take us on a half-day tour all around the island. He was a great tour guide and the price was quite reasonable.
