Carnival Being Bashed---Unfairly

I totally agree with you. I have had them ask me but yet never fail to leave if I say no thank you. There are cruises that I will have a couple of drinks on and some I have none. It is personal responsibility time when we go out in public. It is just like filling your plate at the buffet. They offer it and you choose to eat what you want. Some people choose to forget those three little words "no thank you".

I remember them repeatedly offering but never had a server or a bartender hold a gun to my head;). A polite "no thanks" and off they went:).

How sad is it when "reality" news substitutes for real news?

Maybe the saddest thing is people actually watch this garbage and read this trash and actually believe it!

As Albert Einstein said; "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

I hope if this goes to trial there are people on the jury who have actually cruised. There is no way someone can just lean over the balcony rail and fall over! This is just total BS. She was drunk and probably sitting on the rail.

Everyone gets sued now a days. Look at the NFL with almost a billion dollars going to the ex players that had concussions. All the car accidents where people bilk money from the insurace company. The lady who spilled her coffee at mcdonalds for a cool million. So I dont even pay attention its not going to change people will sue. I knew someone who slipped on a piece of fish in a bar restuarant she got 2 million and the bar. now her son never had to work cause years later she is gone and he has it all.

That she just "fell" off the ship and um that she should be held accountable for her actions...seriously, the bartender encouraged her to drink with casino discounts? The whole thing is really just stupid. The sad part is she doesn't realize that her payment should be her life that she almost threw away. I know I have had close calls and after my heart stops beating a thousand miles a minute, I thank God I am alive. This woman is ungrateful, many people that go over die or are never found. She is lucky Carnival acted as quickly as they did. They should send her a bill for her rescue.

What was the falsehood? What was incomplete?

What was the falsehood? What was incomplete?

You want incomplete? Here you go.

1. How long was it before her room mate reported her missing? Part of the lawsuit is that Carnival let her flounder for 90 minutes.

2. How many drinks did she consume?

3. They never said that it can take a cruise ship more than 20 minutes to completely stop when running at full speed. They also failed to report that cruise ships cannot turn around like a car can make a U turn, therefore turning the ship on a dime is impossible.

4. They never bothered to say that life boats cannot be lowered until the ship slows to a certain speed.

5. They never bothered to speak to anyone who was actually on the ship such as security officers.

Falsehood?

1. Any person who's shorter than LeBron James can't lean over a railing and just tumble over.

2. Bartenders don't "force" drinks on passengers.

3. The captain supposedly refused to turn around. What really happened, according to newspaper accounts, was they made all calls for this passenger and when there was no response, they launched the boats.

Highly suspect comment.

1. She claimed she didn't get medical treatment once back on board. Sorry, but that comment is so totally suspect because when I, or a member of my family, has had need for medical treatment, it's always been good and we've never been refused treatment. Heck, it's also suspect because the cruise line knew that this person could sue and would have busted their butts to make sure she received good treatment.

Actually, doesn't matter. The ship would not stop, it would turn, then quickly slow (probably by backing down). I'm not sure what the tactical diameter is for one of these ships, but I would venture to say that it's probably artificially limited - the captain would not drive the ship like he stole it because it would put a heel on the ship and spill people's drinks! :D Anyway, during the whole turning and slowing down process they would be manning the boat deck and as soon as the ship was going slow enough they'd put the small boat (probably a RHIB, definitely not a lifeboat) in the water to recover the man overboard. This process would not take 90 minutes however...as a point of reference, on an aircraft carrier (5000 people) the standard to get an accurate muster and recover the man is approx 20 minutes.
